How do I make a beam effect in the editor (I want it to look like blue/red instagib beam, I want it to appear when a trigger takes damage, I don't want it to deal any damage).
To change the color of the beam, Open the Generic Browser and open the LT_Light package -> SM -> Materials. Select either the MI_LT_Light_SM_Lightcone01_Blue or MI_LT_Light_SM_Lightcone01_Red. Then select the static mesh and open its properties by pressing F4. Dropdown StaticMeshActor - > StaticMeshComponent and find the Materials tab. Click 'Add New Item' (green plus to the right). Insert the selected materials from the GB into the [0] slot of the materials tab (green arrow pointing to the left on the rightside)
I looked into this as I also wanted to use a beam.. I gave up.
Try looking in the Shock rifle package, there are some particle emitters in there, 1 is the actual beam.
Trouble is in the particle emitter editor and in game, u can't see a preview of the beam.. So you can't even begin to edit it.
All you see is the end explosion of the beam hitting nothing.
Also the dark walker beams too.
Would be great if anyone works it out how to see a preview of the actual beam, I think it's something to do with needing a start point and end point for the beam, but I couldn't make it show up.
Anyone worked this out yet?
I'm on my 3rd map, and again I want to use a beam emitter but nobody appears to have a clue how to make one and preview it in the editor.
You cant see beams in cascade or the editor, you can only see them when you play the map. Its a pain because any tweaks you make you have to check them by playing the map in the editor.
