    Just about ready with VCTF-Timberland [screenshot]

    So I'm almost done with this puppy, however I need a favor from you guys. When I had the halo ring made, I realized that it wasn't exactly like the one from halo. It's bigger at the bottom, and thinner as you go up. The ring I have now can't do that, it's only half a ring. Anyways, could someone be kind enough to make me a ring that goes with this texture? Thanks.

    Wow. This looks really nice. It's a remake of a halo 1 map right? Love it.
    You might wanna create some contrast between the ring and the sky though, the ring should stand out which in this case it isn't.

      Oops, didn't read your post before posting . I can probably help you out. Of course I'd have to learn how to move meshes from maya to UT3 . If nobody else steps up I'll help you out.

        Thanks. Yeah it's kinda hard to do that when it's only half a ring mesh, I'm tryin to get people together (not easy to do), to help me out here.

          if somebody else hasnt did it already, i'll make a modified ring for you bret

          but you'll have to give me a couple of days: my PC is in for repairs, so i should gte it back tomorro. then, i have to reinstall Max - my harddrives had to be wiped.

          dont wory, i still got the ring. i'll edit it for you then

          be looking out in your PM folder over the next few days: I'LL DO IT

            Well I said this in PM too but anyways:

            I really appreciate your efforts alot. I just noticed about the ring that the texture on it repeats, however you can see the repeating lines on it which makes it look kinda unrealistic. But you can try to get rid of those lines, or make a whole new one, either way I really appreicate it man.

              Okee, Done . Uploading a pic right now. Have some issues to resolve (the thing has more than a 1000 tris right now which can be reduced to 200 and the texture load is 12 mbs which can be significantly reduced, plus I haven't made the normal map yet (though I don't see the point of using that)).
              The texture is 2048*2048, lemme know if that's overkill and I'll reduce it. Here is the screen



              Sorry I don't know how to make stuff look good . I'll hopefully upload the package tomorrow after my last final for the semester , and will send you the link in a PM. I would have completed it tonight if it wasn't 12am here .

              P.S. The texture was really low res. Given the mesh's distance from the player it should be able to hold its own but if it doesn't, I can do the texture again if you can get me a high res texture or I can probably also do a texture from scratch (which would be fun ).

                  Well dude you said your pc was gone for repairs . I thought why not take this project, and now I know how to export static meshes thanks to both Bret and you . Anyhow, can you tell me a good ase export plug in for maya? I thought the ActorX plug in was supposed to give me ase export capabilities but it doesn't .

                  P.S. I'm now using a downloaded plug in but it makes me triangulate the mesh every time I export, I can't triangulate through maya because it destroys the shape of the mesh for some reason and if I force triangulate via the plug in it effectively doubles the poly count :-S.

                        if this mesh doesnt work out, im happy to modify the origional bret, although im sure jansoft's one will be fine. i have my PC back now, so im back to my old "mesh creating" self. LOL.

                              Great .. so what about a mapping team ... interested guys? Maybe then we can go further and learn how to make a mod ... and then make a mod .
