    Meshes not Appearing?

I've managed to get pretty comfortable with the new editor, but have a few problems. I'll start with one pesky one:

Sometimes after I select a static mesh in the generic browser, it won't appear when I "place" it in the map. But I'll be able to see it in wireframe mode in other views, just not the 3D one. Any tips, or is the editor just buggin' on me sometimes?

Yes that might be it. Or simple press "W" and "Q" for BSP and meshes to hide/appear. This is very useful for mapping. Also use Groups, ie. mark your all outside meshes as Group1, then every mesh in rooms as "room1" etc. And then hide all but group you working on. This really helps on big maps or when you want that 512 units more for extra room betwen existing ones and selecting 100 meshes can take time.

Also remember to set: "Low detail" in properties of every structure mesh that you want to appear in game. I did mistake of not setting it and some people seen only BSP on my map.

Awesome, that did it. So simple, it seems I was pressing the "w" key that automatically makes static meshes invisible. Thanks, man.

The "Low detail" setting - is that for all static meshes, or just archways and corners, etc.?

The "detail level" is set to "HIGH" by default to new meshes you put in your map. This mean that anybody playing with anything but "HIGH" will not see most of your meshes.

I see, seems pretty important for the meshes to scale to user's PC..funny that's like that as a default. /rushes off to fix his meshes

Well, that would explain why my doorframe mesh would show up in the 3d view of the editor, but when I tried running the map, it would vanish.

                Lol...

I'm going to have to go see if that's what was causing the problem.
