    Description:

    SUMMARY:
    After being rebuilt several times and enhanced with each pass, (From UT99 through UT2K4 to ultimately UT3 ..) in this third installment of this map we'll learn more about its .... not so humble beginnings. Brought forward with each major enhancement of tournament technology, this version boasts the ultimate enhancements, improvements, and quality we've seen thus far from the "Arena-Style" capture the flag setting known as CTF-Football.
    DETAILS:
    Located on a space platform orbiting planet Mars in Earth's solar system; Liandri Stadium was originally designed as a recreation center / proving ground for observers, & investors to view the testing of Liandri's most advanced combat machines pitted against each other in fierce battles as part of the fine tuning & endurance testing process while various stages of development with different models evolved.

    Later the arena was used as a staging grounds for Earth's elite humanoid gladiators to hold; both scrimmages, & official ladder matches for the sport of Football in intergalactic competition from neighboring solar systems throughout the galaxy.

    Eventually that phase would pass also, as the Earth's global economy sunk farther into ruin; primarily because of poor political appointments, which ultimately led to the downfall of the free markets, eventually stamping out & extinguishing the last remaining bits freedom & democracy ultimately resulting in unrenewed contracts due to a lack of funding & free enterprise.

    With times passing a renewed sense of hope was reborn; realizing the potential profits from commercial use of this facility combined with the knowledge that the arena was designed; with the most advanced alloys, reinforced concretes, and hardened metals of the time, ((built to withstand the blast of nuclear explosions)) the Liandri Robotics Corporation knowing peoples love and thirst for the blood thirsty sport, eventually opted to convert the stadium into a battle arena for the Tournament.

    • Scaled on par with the Original UT as the 2K4 version felt too large
    • Substantial additional BSP used for trim and to display the potential & possibilities of the UT3 engine when used in this fashion
    • This is one of my favorite and one the all time best of the custom non-standard maps for UT1, it had to be brought forward
    • Bots / AI function is excellent; bots will use all possible path combination and variations randomly to and from the flags
    • Lighting & post-processing heavily tweaked & dialed in to work well with both bloom enabled & disabled
      (Recommended neutral brightness setting of 5 & 'bloom' enabled for this level)
    • Version 1.1: enhancements - fixes
    • Version 1.2: enhancements - fixes
    • Version 1.3: enhancements - fixes
    • Version 1.4: major performance adjustments.

        Ah yes, the classic Football Was wondering if someone would remake this one for UT3. Looks pretty nice.

          Thx! if you ever played the original UT then you may know about this map....... very fun. It was also a blast on UT2004 with, especially with the excessive mod. ((the original levels design included some of the best aspects of the CTF game; not to big, but not too small, hard fight in and out of the bases, sniping towers / areas, multi-paths high / low, i also thought the original designer did great job at showcasing the UT technology for its time, there were some nice touches))

          Thanks, i'm glad your liking the looks so far, the layout and playability of the arena-style stadium combined with the bases / sniping areas and upper halls multi-route variables makes for a worthy but viable challenge - again this works very well for UT-CTF play, - IMO

          If you all would be so kind as to remember to rate the map/thread, it's much appreciated.

              The map was bug/performance/play tested on a total of 6 different Windows machines networked, one of which being a dedicated server, none have any custom content or add-ons other than the latest UT3 patch. The map works fine on each machine, faithfully.

              I'll install a fresh copy of UT3 on an independent machine, with out patching, download direct from the link and test it again myself. If all is well then perhaps it is on your end? - thanks for bringing this to my attention never the less, i definitely put too much time into this to have a non-working final, lets be sure that's the case though with out jumping the gun.

              Anyone else download / play the map and have crashing problems?

              ***EDIT*** well the post i quoted was removed / deleted as fast as it was posted, was it a false alarm Schotti|UTzone? - if there is still a problem again thank you for pointing it out and i'd like to resolve it, please let me know / ****EDIT****

                  Ah i gotcha. Well thanks for clearing that up, might i suggest that you install a fresh copy of UT3? i know you must test a lot of the custom content before you mirror it on the www.utzone.de site, i've had issues in the past as well when i was testing lots of stuff, i actually had to reinstall to clean up my UT3, then patch, and then the performance was restored.

                            Yes ! A BR-Version should be a good enhancement for this great map !
