I think the flags should be moved to the end of fields (where health pickups are). If you don't like flags out in the open you cut a dugout under the team signs. If you did that you could then go to the area above each sign then make a drop in to dug out/ flags. Just my opinion but I think that would make the extremely fun If you are worried about the sides not getting used you could add some good powerups one on each side.
I think you've made your mind up on the flag location so i don't want to keep pushing you on that unless your not 100% sure, if you still have some small doubts then i'd say **Yes to relocate them to the field** you can always put some special powerups in the stands so they'll see some use and not be a waste, also there isn't enough cover to support instagib with the flags up high so it sort of disables that great mod from seeing use on this neat map.
You're right, I have made up my mind on this one
Although I'll move the stands one row closer to the field and probably a little bit on its right. It's truely a bit to far.
Several reason for not spreading the game along the longitudinal axis.
First of all, it would be too evident. The player which'll download the map won't expect the actual choice. I hope he'll be surprised, in a good way.
If disapointed, well, maybe will he consider giving BR-THOR_BOWL a try (I'm secretly updating the already "Final" version ..)
I find the actual off-center set up truely interesting, in many ways.
- Bases are relatively difficult to reach as well as defend.
- More frontal confrontation, less monotonous, IMO.
- Flags would look ridiculously small, lost, just a few yards ahead of the big banners (even on some woodwork..).
I'll try to make the actual placement a bit more visible though.
- It gives the graveyard a real role. The game is far more readable from heights
- I worked the pickups placement carefully, and I really like the flow.
(I've just add a second Rocket Launcher, on the stands, instead of the ammo pickup.
This way, a player that spawns and runs directly to the flag gets the powerful weapon instantly)
- Visually I particulary like to see the blasts crossing the field by this orientation.
- ...
I'll try instagib and see what I can do about that.
In the new RC2.1 version I lowered gravity a bit, it makes the game faster (side/toward/backward jumps) and bit more Z-axis friendly. Maybe it'll help.
I'll probably get rid of Jump Boots. What kind of powerups would you guys put in this map ?
The hammer still looks ......
maybe you should just try to make the bowl gold and go with orig or steel colored on the actual hammer ( also you need to light the backside of the hammer and bowl, even if it is just a little 1 side is practically blacked out.). I like that you changed the team names I think it is now more people friendly.
Totally agree !
It's a real pain to try lighting this **** Hammer, probably cause that's a SkeletalMesh, But I'll get it to rock !
Your steel/silver idea proved to be good already. Thanks
I think you have the makings for a very fun map in the works, this map is a true 'arena-style' design which brings good potential for some great hard fights and fun fast action, definitely something all CTF / GRD players need to experience IMO.
I have to agree that the additional cover on the field is definitely a plus.

Also nice to see the addition of the Flak cannon.
@ Gussie[MK] I think you have some excellent ideas to include a dropdown / tunnel or something from above the flag if it were on the field, that would be too slick to sneak around then snatch the flag that way, from a mappers point of view it might be asking a lot of the designer? i do still agree though to relocate the flags to the field as i've said, but if not it's still a fun map and i respect Molosev's final decision on that either way.
I took some screen shots they are to big to upload
I will describe them the best I can. I think the flags should be moved to the end of fields (where health pickups are). If you don't like flags out in the open you cut a dugout under the team signs. I guess I have to change the target so that the red defense point's target is the blue FlagBase (UTCTFBlueFlagBase_0). Am I right ?
Well, this dosen't work. The Defense Point take the color of the FlagBase it defends.
So I can't make a team defend an ennemy base..
I'll get rid of the Defense Points.
I inverted the FlagBases, but not the defense points yet
and their target is now on the other side of the field, which is not logical..
I want the defense points to prevent the attacker from scoring (and obviously not from taking the flag anymore) , so I need the defense to protect the ennemy base.
I guess I have to change the target so that the red defense point's target is the blue FlagBase (UTCTFBlueFlagBase_0). Am I right ?
But maybe there's no point in keeping defense points for this "gametype" !
What do you think ? What should I do with the defense points ?
I respect your choices and look forward to seeing the next version with what ever changes your implementing.
Even if you leave the terrain as it is, and it think it's great, i'd still press to relocate the flags to the fields and reversed, (sounds like you agree on reversing! -good good) it makes more sense to keep the play on the field, and perhaps leave the current flag towers for some special 'off-sides' power-ups? You could even include a few extra obstacles on the field for cover, the middle platform helps as well.
Just my honest thoughts. Respect on what ever you decide of course. Keep up the good work.
