WAR-HotZone Beta 2 (Pics and DL)

    Name: WAR-HotZone

Version: Final is done, Check the FULL RELEASES section for the download link!!!!

Compatibility: UT3 v1.3 (should work with previous versions) PC only until further optimizations are done.

Description: I set out to make a tactical play map that would provide players with a vast assortment of paths to follow and less linear gameplay. So, to accomplish this, I decided to allow players access to ANY part of the playable map... every single room in every building, including the rooftops, is playable area and can be used for deadly strategic advantage.

I also wanted to make a map that wasn't completely symmetrical, yet still remained balanced. So, pickups are relatively equivalent throughout, with a few exceptions like the Redeemer and Shield Belt...

Many areas are also hiding pickups, some much harder to get to than others.

Bear in mind that this is still a Beta and is subject to change, so feel free to give suggestions if you believe something should be moved or replaced.

    Known Bugs:

    - There's a section where two rock meshes meet on the outskirts of the map that will trap you if you fall between them.

    - There's a small bit of a blocking volume sticking out in front of the power station silo.

    - Not really a bug, but not all of the window meshes are in place, this can be confusing on some of the sliding glass doors without windows, since they do have collision. If you can't go through a door, take a step back and make sure the door is really open. This is being worked on.

    - No other problems and the above two are hardly noticeable.

Awesome map! I dont mind the file size, however i don't like WAR maps. Could you turn this map into a DM/TDM or CTF/VCTF plz.

BTW you must have spent ages on this map, a great map for Tactical Assault. Good Work

Haha 100mb is kinda the usual for shades maps.
I'll give it a spin as soon as I can.

A vCTF version is planned after the WAR version is finished, I just haven't figured out where I want to put the flags yet....

                  nice picts
will download it later (not on my computer )
all ur maps are nice but i m in same feeling as jumaAm i only play DM-TDM levels and it s always frustrating to see nice map "enclosed" on war-ctf-vctf gametypes(lot of players required to play thoses ones and servers are desperatly empty :'(

tho i respect ur choice .....it s just that yer maps are nice and i had like to play them with team mates ; )

I had to download this because one of the things I dislike about so many different games is how there is this fantastic environment full of interesting places... but you can't go there. I like every building to be fully open, even if there isn't anything particularly useful inside.

I gave the map a quick run through, and a few things immediately became apparent:
                    • There should be stairs in most or all buildings leading to the roof. I know there are jump pads, but stairs would increase the incentive to go inside.
                    • There should be more exits from the upper levels of the buildings. It's frustrating to run around looking for the stairwell, especially given the issue with the glass doors.
                    • There was one interior node that is scaled so small that you can't capture it with the orb unless you crouch. Maybe break a hole in the ceiling above it so it can be a bit bigger.
