    Download: RELEASE CANDIDATE 4

Feb 5th: New DL!!! Visuals have changed dramatically, but are now for the most part finished, with the exceptions of a few odds and ends thatll be finished shortly. I'm beginning to put in blocking volumes in places where needed first. Some of those made it into this version. Love any and all feedback concerning brightness on this one as well as how the platforms play in front of the windows.

Feb 11th: More blocking volumes added to smooth out walls etc. PP Volumes started. New snazzy carpet runner that spices up the floors nicely. Thinking about adding that on the lower level and upper level also to tie it all together. Thoughts? Updates will be coming quicker as I want this out soon...

Feb 15th: The following screenshots are of rooms that have been completed. One of these 4 shots will be the ingame preview shot. Got a favorite? Let me know!

Feb 16th: Just a few things left before final publish, some sound tweaks, a volume or 2, etc. All visual and gameplay elements are done. I'm still hoping to have this done yet today....

Oh, seems we got a challenger for the great Curse5-1

That's gonna be tough but Imma try it out

      Edit:

If you change to 1-1 Details the elevators are totally black. I don't remember how to fix this but you might ask some mappers here, no big deal to fix afaik.
I really like the design strangely

1-1 As in low detail? Note taken, I'll be sure to address that.

Pretty accurate remake. in close on the details, a couple things you may want to address:

                > Need to put blocking volumes on the walls and protruding meshes, and if need be remove collision on floor objects if they are fairly close to the ground.

                > the dirt piles that lead to an upper level are out of place, imo. They are practical, but they don't lend believability to the map. You need more decay in ceilings/floor/walls having them falling apart, as it make more sense for a pile of rubble to be there. This would be a good idea over all, as it seems way too tidy elsewhere.

                > the upper level lighting is washed out and too bright; the lighting in other parts of the level seem too static & bright also. Not the more sinister lighting that the prior Curse levels had.

                > there's nothing really new being brought to the level - it probably is not your intention, but I find that remakes have a better reception if they are tweaked enough to have them seem fresh. For example: in one of the carved out nooks on the lower level, you could insert a lift to an upper level.

                Good luck!

all a matter of perspective... i would agree that a change is only needed if it improves the map...

Fyi, he said he would kick you in the nads if he ever caught someone calling him "Cliffy".

                        Looks nice.

It's always a good idea to find a spot of the map where you think something could benefit the player, and then add that something. Sure changing a classic map seems like a bad idea, but keep in mind there needs to be a reason somebody would download your map instead of Pop in classic Unreal Tournament.

Some good ideas would be to take a look at some of the halo remakes. Bungie seems to know exactly where they went 'wrong' with some of their older maps, like Blackout vs LockOut, and my personal favorite remake, Tombstone vs Hang Em High back on Halo2, it went through dozens of changes that only made the map even better.

After a long break I'm back to work. Did anyone actually find any real problems here? I'll be doing some blocking volumes, but is there anything else?
