    CTF-FacingWorlds-Classic [Beta3][PICS][PC]

    Name: Facing Worlds - Classic
    Version: Now it's final.
    Compatibility: UT3 version 1.3
    Description: a modification of the Facing Worlds map which comes into the UT3 Bonus Pack.
    Requirements: the UT3 Bonus Pack
    Comments: Many people preferred the 'Space' look of the UT99 and UT2004 versions of this level, so do i. Then, i did this. I've placed some fire at the top of the towers, removed all kind of grass and earth (to make it look more 'lunar') changed the gravity a little, replaced the original 'chinese' background with space, planets, rotating asteroids,etc...

    Well I din't find any problems but I think the map is a bit overbright but that could just be me.

              I actually gave this a go last night to try to understand your reasoning behind this. Unfortunately this is not cooked and has missing textures and terrain bridge as the one i started with did. That was the reason I was helping Mr.Feronni was because the map would not cook. The map is ok it is identical to the ut3 version of facing worlds. When you released this yesterday after seeing mine get released I must admit I found that to be really rude though after playing this I realize this map is not face classic it is facing worlds. totally different map though the buildings are the same. My only issue with it atm is the lagg of it not being cooked, and tha lack of anything to walk on or textures on the buildings.

                In the top of the thread i stated that the UT3 Bonus pack is required, because it contains the materials and meshes required by the map.
                You can find the bonus pack HERE.

                About cooking, i did this map a while ago, while i was having some cooking problems with other projects (e.g. dm-pressure remake) so i didn´t even try to cook it. However, after this i had to format my laptop and i reinstalled everything. Installed UT3, installed the UT3 Bonus Pack, and this map still works for me, no meshes or textures are missing... The screenshots have been taken from the normal game (not the in-editor game).
                I'll try to cook it anyway, but it SHOULD work ok in your computer, even if it's not cooked...

                Yes, the skybox rotates, the planets move with the skybox, the asteroids move with the skybox and also each asteroid have its own rotation rate... the asteroid belt rotates as well... Just give it a try.
                The only thing i haven't been able to do is rotating lens flares. That's the reason why the sun is the axis of the skybox rotation. Also, if i made the sun rotate around the level, i would have had to illuminate the whole level with a dynamic light. I tried that, but the stencil shadows created by the sun are a bit buggy...

                Btw, any of you could tell me what the real difference is between a 'cooked' and an 'uncooked' map?? all of them work ok for me, i really haven´t noticed the difference yet...

                  class, cause if you hadn't you could always have downloaded my remeake ctf-face ][ and looked at how i did mine but that does not seem to matter now.

                    i have added a couple more rotating asteroids, and moved the 'sun' a bit upwards (the lens flare of the sun didn't let me snipe well from the sides of the blue tower to the bots in the sides of the red tower).
                    Tried to cook it, but i get an error message...

                      not bad i've done most of the bot pathing in the 1st two rooms and im working on the pressure room. Only problem is i've been working on a Domination map remake for the next domination map pack thats why its taking so long. I should have it done by the end of september.

                              I hate that bright sun. How do you remove the brightness. It's so bright that sniping from the blue tower seems unfair because of the glare and on the red team, when you start out, you're almost blinded. How do i remove this brightness with the unreal editor? I'm not publishing this or anything, i just need it to look a little better. I'm playing this on singleplayer anyway.
