    CTF-Dreary [Pics] [Alpha] [Download]

    Name: Dreary Disposal Facility
    Description: Based upon the CTF-Dreary from the original UT except with a factory theme.
    Comments: Currently a work in progress. It is almost finished and currently playable in editor (was impatient and bot pathed already). All that there is left to do is further static meshing, improved lighting, AI tweaking and blocking volumes.

    A lot of the atmosphere is created by the ambient sound; constant tapping of rain and randomly generated thunder, and so can only be experienced by playing the level but Im hoping that the screenshots give a general idea of what its going to be like.


    EDIT: Map is finally reached alpha stage and I am happy that it is ready for public release.

    Description: The Dreary Disposal Facility is one of the largest Tarydium waste processing facilities located on Taryd. The size of the facility results in an excessive volume of steam being produced which wreaks havoc with the natural weather systems. The whole facility and surrounding area is engulfed in a perpetual storm that rages 24/7, hence leading to the apt nickname "Dreary" by its workers.
    Number of Players: 8 to 12 Players
    Comments: Credits go to Shane Caudle, who produced the CTF-Dreary for the original UT. This remake as mentioned above is a complete overhaul, setting the location with a grunge industrial theme within a storm. I initially thought FPS would be too low but upon playing ingame they seem fine once initial loading has taken place.

    Installation Information:Extract all contents of this folder to the following location:

    My Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Published\CookedPC\CustomMaps

    If the folder does not exist it may be necessary to create it manually.

        Map is at alpha phase now and playable download link in first post.

        EDIT: Seems to be slow to get going - anyway here are some more recent pictures of the alpha version, to hopefully stir up some interest :P

            Tunnels are a bit small imo.
            And on brigde you shoud remove the fence, that block the way.
            Btw map is a bit heavy i already played games on it, and people complaint about having 40/50 fps maybe you could fix it (especially on top bridge).
            The map is a bit dark imo
            One big problem entrance of base the stairs omfg very gay and too small, remove the stairs and put a ramp plz and put the entrance larger.

            This is my opinion dont get **** with my critics, but i love this map since UT99, mid is great but tunnels bridge should be larger imo.
            Btw great work remaking this map

              This is looking Very good, you should be proud, looks much better then some of the other user made maps out there. havent downloaded though, just looked at the screens

                Yer tunnels are a bit small but I was trying to keep to the original scale of the map. Made it a bit bigger than when I initially made it before release cos even I thought it was small. LOL what is wrong with the stairs infront of the base? I can easily widen them but why did you want a ramp instead?

                The fps were a problem for me in editor but were fine ingame but I have quite a fast computer so cannot really judge from that. A lot of the slowing comes from the kismet I think and so atmosphere would be compensated. Static meshes shouldn't slow game too much but tbh 40/50 fps is still playable. I was under the impression that 30 was the limit?

                I can work on widening it a little and increasing the lighting within the map although I was going for a dark night feel to it

                    just downloaded, its good, but could be better, you do have allot of areas that are made of more BSP then meshes, like the cured tunnels. needs a lil more detail in some areas. other wise this is the only community made map that I like.. put a lil more effort in before making it final and im sure people will love it..

                        Yer I agree with you there - the problem with the curved tunnels is there are very few curving meshes, although I do intend to add more meshes. I just wanted to get a release that was close to finish that people could get back to me on what they thought of layout etc.

                          Thats kool, i just have a high standard, nothing less then epic quality. I would love to add this to my collection, but you have a bit of work to do.. Q: have you played safegurd? if you have then im sure u trust I can produce a good map.. Ill take screen shots and give you some pointers for areas that need work.. Keep it up

                            Yup I have it downloaded and have played it. It was good and I would appreciate some pointers. I am still on the learning curve as I am sure many are so any tips are appreciated.
