    Description: Map inspired/based on the Silent Hill game series. Streets of the town shrouded in thick fog.
    Comments: Yes, the map is foggy, but if you have played, or seen any of the Silent Hill games (which this map is based on) you would understand why. For the final release I do plan on reducing the fog however.

    Did someone say Silent Hill? :-SS

    Could use some more screenshots so we can get an idea of the general layout, but I'm downloading it anyway. The car got me started!

                This map has great potential, but with the fog that thick I just couldn't tolerate playing it for long - especially when the bots were hitting me with sniper riles from who knows how far away. I don't remember it being quite that thick in the Silent Hill games, to be honest.

                As well as thinning the fog I'd also maybe lighten it, and see if you can compliment it with a nice falling ash effect using some emitters - or even just copy the snow from Avalanche. There's also an option in World Properties that seems to control how far bots can see, so it'd be a good idea to play around with that and see what results you get.

                Another issue is that the map seems to be completely flat, which doesn't make for very exciting gameplay. What about making some interiors for some buildings like Downtown? Or you could even add some lower streets that have fallen into that nightmarish state, with blood-red lighting and chains and all that good stuff. This map is a great opportunity to create something really atmospheric.

                  Yeah, I noticed the bots sniping from far away, I'm going to remove the sniper rifles from the map... I honestly don't remember why I placed them in the lockers to begin with. And yeah, the fog will definitely be fixed by the next release, I have a few other things to add as well for the final version.

                  As for your suggestion of the grated hellish areas, I thought of that, but didn't really think of a good way to fit it into the map's layout, I actually plan on doing a separate map for that, after I finish this one.

                    OMG man this is a wicked idea... my friend I got to buy UT3 is obsessed with Silent Hill and is he gonna **** himself when I send him this tonight.

                    I hope it's an awesome map gameplay-wise but, even if it's not it won't matter, it'll be fun. Especially since we always duel and map layout doesn't matter too much to have a great duel. It could be a street with some trash cans and bus stops (... why didn't I think of that earlier) and it could still be awesome.

                    Dude, although I'm still downloading the map and haven't played it yet, I would keep the sniper in. It will be exploited in bot-matches but in player-versus-player it would be really cool and scary. Can't you just disable the sniper in-game? I thought I remember you being able to, I know in CSS you can disable certain weapons for bots; that option would be great in UT3 if there is one.

                          Beta 2, for PC is up, I thinned the fog a lot, it's easier to see, I also fixed the EMP mines...

                          For the final version there'll be more to the map.

                          Also, EoW is just a tag my friend and I use in our UT maps, it's just an abbreviation for our site.

                            Here's a screen from Silent Hill 2, maybe you can try to make the fog look more like this:



                            Also, it would be sweet if you had a portal that leads to the 'Alternate World'. You can use the exact same map layout, but make the environment look like hell. Balance the weapons so that players would have to travel from normal to 'alternate' in order to pick up certain guns.

                              Yes, I'm aware of how the fog effects look in the later silent hill games. In the final version the fog will look prettier, as I'm still fooling around with particles, in the current release, the fog still looks like the original SH's. Dunno about putting in any hellish world parts into this map, but I'm going to do another map, with that style, after I complete the final version of this map.
