Galtanor's Invasion [Beta][Pics][Updated 10/26/2008][v022][Patch 1.3]

    thanks for the new version, some good improvements i noticed.

    just a little report though, one server i been playing battlerpg+invasion on increased the max monster spawn for each wave this morning, and when i solo and get 2k points at start of wave 13 something gets bugged and all monsters/weapons became invisable. not sure if this is server related but i think its a invasion bug that ocurs when theres just to much monsters spawned. btw when everything becomes invisable it happend for other online players aswell. i dont know much about this so just making a guess.
    annyway when monster spawns were reduced again (2k points at end of wave15) everything was fixed again.

    edit: oh and it didnt matter if it was a big or small map either, monsters become invis at a certain point but i dunno how much monsters in a map that is exactly though.

      What I did here was doubling the number of monsters in all waves. When I reversed that the problem disappeared.

          Ok, I will have to test it this weekend. I know I have successfully spawn 100 monsters in single player mode.

          The gametype is mostly complete: most of the major features are complete and most of the major bugs are fixed. Going forward most of what I will be doing is making more monsters. Moving it to the Final does not mean I have to stop working on it!

            Thats a relief Still the ability to add custom monsters to the INI instead of encoding them is a a good idea.
            Wish i had your brains for a weeks to figure that out hehe

              Nice, it's just one more thing. The game should check if the big Darkwalker can fit in ALL maps, else use the little blob. The Non VCTF and WAR maps can be a bit too easy on the boss fights with the blobs.

                    Last update requests

                    A bot automatically added as you leave the server even if the minimum is set to 0
                    The wave should end with no players and not start with out them.

                    Monsters get stuck from time to time, so is it possible to make them re spawn randomly like they did back in ut2004 ?

                    Ability to scale monsters in the INI could also spice up and servers with the ability to make them as much custom as possible.

                    If a monsters sees you, its likely to walk right by you minding its own business, Why is that ? If its EPIC AI issue than disregard. I mean its so EPIC and stupid LOL

                    INVASION RULES !!!!!!!!!!!!

                      Would increasing the monster difficulty improve the monster AI and make it do stuff like dodges, or does difficulty only change damage taken/given etc.

                          As far as i know they behave differently.
                          Moving faster and much more unpredictable.
                          And yes the damage is also effected.

                          LOL no they wont dodge

                          Back i ut2004 monsters even did some animation taunts that was hella funny watching a monster doing a dance for some reasons.

                              Thanks very much for the update! Just loaded this up this morning....

                              Couple things that I have done and noticed.
                              1. Uploaded the compressed versions of GaltanorsInvasionContent.upk.uz3 and GaltanorsInvasion.u.uz3 to http://uz3.gameservers.net/ut3/ redirect. I think these are the only ones that have changed since that last upload. If anyone is looking for a redirect that the files are on, you could try this one.
                              2. Have WAR-Torlan set as my default map. On the very first wave I was instantaneously killed by a HammerKrall. Seems a little strange as I was on the top of the middle tower and all the monsters were down below on the ground. Anybody else get something strange like this?
                              3. The log file on the server went quickly to 2 MB only after wave 2. Getting alot of the following messages in the logs. (Roughly 7000 lines of it)

                                There is already a feature in game that does that. The default is that, if a monster does not move 1024 units with in 120 seconds, it gets ported back to a spawn point. This is configurable by changing the values in the ini file.

                                MinimumMoveDistance=1024.0
                                CheckMoveSeconds=120

                                I will add it to the list of requested features. Look for it in a future version. Also, if you have any other ideas for customizing the monsters, go ahead and throw them out here. I can not promise I will be able to add them all, but I will look at them and see what I can do.

                                Go into your UTGaltanorsInvasion.ini file and change the MonsterDifficulty to 1.0 and see if it makes a difference.

                                Both. If you wish to adjust one or the other, you can do so with the UTGaltanorsInvasionMonsters.ini file. See the documentation on the monster manager for more details.

                                If there is a demand for it, I would consider splitting it into 2 values, one for the AI and one for the monster toughness.

                                I ran a couple of tests over the weekend. I spawned 100 monsters of EVERY type on 2 different maps and was able to see them all... so at this point I am unable to replicate the problem. If I get a chance this week I will download the latest BattleRPG and try it.

                                Reptile? Not sure where you were going with that. Someone suggested I try using more of the vehicles as monsters. After viewing them all, the Nightshade looked kinda like a large beetle of some sort, so I thought I would try using it for a 'mother bug'.

                                I originally updated the first post with each new version, but it just seemed to make it, well, cluttered. Keeping it all on a separate page just seem to work better for organization purposes.

                                I have never seen or heard of this happening... I do not normally play on Torlan, but will try it this week.

                                Unfortunately, that looks like something with BattleRPG, not the Invasion. BattleMode may have missed a check (LeftMesh != none) before attempting to change the skin value.
