    UT3 (v.2.1) with TitanPack key-problem

    Hi,
I have just installed UT3, patched it to version 2.1 and installed the TitanBonusPack. Now after starting the game and entering the serial code everything seemed to be o.k.
But a problem has occured: when I switch from offline-play to online-play I have to re-enter the serial-code. After that I will be able to play online as often as I want to without having to re-enter the serial code again. But when I want to play offline after that (e.g. when I have no internet-connection) I again have to enter the serial-code one time. After that I can start the game offline as often as I want without having to enter the code again. But when I am online again I will have to enter the serial code again one time.
So everytime I switch from online to offline play (and vice versa) I have to enter the serial code one time.
Has anyone encountered the same problem?
    Any idea what to do?

    Cheer me up...

The stored serial key is hashed to the Windows network interface you're using. If you change settings there, you probably need to re-enter the serial code.

      What Rattle said!
Nochwas, do you use Hamachi (or similar tools)?
It's a known problem as far as I remember.

      Cheers!

        Hi,
thanks for answering! I am using devolos to link me up to my DSL-modem. Could that cause problems?

Not sure, but is there a possibility not to use this tool?
Furthermore if you can, ask some friend if he can lend you his DSL router (FritzBox or whatever).
Usually most DSL router/modems are set to permant Internet, so you turn on your PC and are online.
No need to connect to anything.

Give it a try if you can!

P.S. Which DSL modem do you use?

          Cheers!

Yup bunch of people have had this issue (there's a huge thread about it somewhere) - has to do with gamespy trying to re-authenticate - evidently the CD key is encrypted and stored in the user.ini file - the encryption is comprised of the key and hardware specifics so if some hardware changes (switching a network off and on or from one NIC to another) then this triggers the issue.

I'd suggest to create a new user account (you may need an alternate email) see if that does anything otherwise there are dozens of pages on the links below to go through to see if you can find another solution if that doesn't work.
