    UT3 crashes to desktop without error message

    I have found a solution for my problem: To play the game without crashing to desktop all the time I have to launch it directly via the ut3.exe rather than via steam.

    Hello,

    I would like to ask you for some help with an issue I have with Unreal Tournament III (and Gears of War). Every time I will start a game, it will crash to desktop without any error message. It will usually take 5-10 minutes of gameplay.

    Unreal Tournament III is a steam version and is patched to 2.0.
    (Gears of War is a localized Czech version and is patched with the latest available Czech patch)

    My machine:
    Core2Duo 4300 1.8GHz@2.7GHz
    Ati 4850 1GB
    4GB RAM
    Sound Blaster Audigy

    My software:
    Windows XP Professional SP3 Czech
    Ati drivers 9.4 - latest (I don't use Catalyst Control Centre) - I have tried other drivers and also 9.3 with CCC as well
    DirectX - latest (march 2009 I believe)
    All windows updates installed
    All drivers and bios up to date

    Overclocing:
    My CPU is overclocked 1.8GHz@2.7GHz but I have also tried both games with 2.41GHz, 1.8GHz (stock speed - default setting), 1.6GHz (underclocked) - I even tried to underclock the GPU

    I have tried many things posted on this forum and nothing has helped so far.
    I have also tried to set affinity to one core only.
    Other games run flawlessly (like Company of Heroes, HoMaM V, Stalker, Witcher...
    Temperatures of my rig do not exceed 60C for CPU and 64C for GPU - but I have tried to set all fans to 100% - lots of noise, lower temperatures, but still had same problems.

      I have found a solution for my problem: To play the game without crashing to desktop all the time I have to launch it directly via the ut3.exe rather than via steam.
