    Weird artifacts

When I play levels with grass on them I get this weird artifacts.
It also happens on other UE3 games... well, atleast one that I can prove since I have it... Brothers in Arms: HH.

All drivers are up to date (havn't tried latest Catalyst tho, but alot of others).
    -Vista 64bit
    -Q6600
    -Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4
    -Sapphire HD4870 512MB

I've downclocked the gfx card... didn't help.
I uninstalled/installed BiA:HH, but that didn't help, so I see no point in doing that with UT3..... it has to be something else.

    What can I do?

Even though it doesn't give me any artifacts in any other levels or games... even when I overclock?
I just want to be sure before I send it back, otherwise I have to pay for their testing and the shipping both ways.

This is an incompatibility between an UEngine 3 feature (grass foliage) and certain ATI driver settings, more precisely: "Fast z clear" and "Z Mask". You've got to turn them off to get rid of these artifacts. Check out these threads:

Older ATI cards, but exactly the same problem. Dr.Fish posted the solution on page 2 of thread 2.

I couldn't find these settings in the CCC so I clicked "Restore Factory Defaults" in the CCC and voila, it works. I was one step away from reinstalling windows, but now I can use that time for gaming instead.

          Thank you very much!
