ut2004 servers in ut3

Some UT2004 maps were remade or ported to UT3.

hi,
in ut3 when i search for servers, i find some with ut2004 maps, like DM-Rankin.
I noticed that i'm unable to connect to these and other ut3 servers, even whit the 1.3 patch (before installing the patch i was unable to connect to any server. i know that ut3 supports directx 7 and 10, and i know that directx 7 and 10 can play togheter.
so the questions are:
can ut3 use ut2004 maps (online mode)? or i can't connect to these servers form capability reasons?
Why i cannoct connet to some ut3 servers (even with the 13.3 patch)?

please help me (if you can) with my other problem ("UnrealED problem" post)
