UT3 wont boot up & more...

I'm on a Vista Home Premium 64bit intel i7 920 machine, with a radeon 4870x2 2gig video card, and a asus xonar dx2 sound card: UT3 wont boot up. I tried installing the latest patches & all (latest drivers included), and it wont start. I know it is an inGAME sound problem, because tweaking the UTengine.ini file, i disabled the inGAME options... UT3 would load, everything would look pristine with ULTRA settings, but the ingame & menu sounds wont work (the video intro sounds DID work though)... Anybody can help with this? I have tried searching but I couldn't find any respectable solution here...

    thanks for your time,
    GRINGO.

i found a fix of sorts. i replaced the UTengine.ini witha previuos copy and the game fires right up although it wants my cd key again.

that solution is kinda weird to do.... yesterday I uninstalled the Host OpenAL (ADI) program from vista, & the sound magically worked! (but, deleting that also made Call of Duty 4 go to hell as well)... so if you want to interchange, then go ahead!
