Problems with running speed

When i start up Unreal Tournament 3 all the movies procede nicely, but when its time for the main menu it starts to lag crazily. The screen is about 4 seconds behind the mouse and keyboard. This keeps up permanently no matter what settings i have game in, the lag never changes. Please help.

I am running an xps M1530
2.6 ghz dual core processor
4 gb ram
256mb nvidia geforce 8600m gt
320 Gb SATA 7200rpm hardrive

Nevermind i figured out the problem. Apparently having directx 8.0 sdk and its debugger installed slows down unreal tournament massively.
