Error in ut3.exe While Trying to Start the Game

Let me summarize (IMO).
make sure you meet the minimum requirements of the game (especially Video)
Make sure the game has the most recent patch.
Make sure your drivers are current (especially video).
If this fails reinstall the game. Make sure you clean well in between installs.

Hi all,

I installed UT3 plus the third patch today (I wondered why I had not to type in the serial during the installation?!). As soon as I click the UT3-icon on my desktop, I see the red "cover" appearing and nothing more than an error message saying about "ut3.exe has discovered an error and has to be closed". Frustrating.

System:
Windows XP SP3 + all kind of patches
Directx Nov. 2008
Core 2 Duo E6600
4 GB Ram
Nvidia Geforce 8800GTS 640MB (newest driver)
Newest Nvidia PhysX driver installed
Soundcard: Creative X-FI Extreme Music (newest driver)

No problems with other games like Crysis, FarCry 2


Any Idea?
