    Major problems with ut3

    hi

i have huge problems with UT3. i have recently (for a long time)been speaking with midway support and after 20 replies from them, they cannot help me and have referred me to your support forums.

my problem is that when i run the game it all goes fine until after the loading screen. e.g i open UT3, i click on login, i click instant action, deathmath, deimos, start match. it then goes to the loading screen. after that it goes to the start screen with the "click fire to begin". at that moment when it has loaded, the program closes. and i click "dont send" on 2 error reprot dialog boxes.

Midway told me to do: (and i have done)
    Update all my drivers software
    download the UT3 patch
edit info in "dxdiag". when typing in "dxdiag" in the run command
put the sound accelleration at "basic"
edit the refresh rate to 70hz

midway say that my problem is that i have 2 sound card drivers or something and that i need to disable 1 of them in order for the game to work. i did then disable the c-media device driver in the BIOS. when the OS loads it detects the device connected to the system and proceeds to install it, i then uninstall it in the device manager. finaly i restart the game and still i have the same problems.

here is the last query and reply from midway support.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Your Question, Comment or Feedback:
It still doesnt work. this is exactly what i do when
i try to play the game.

    - i go into the BIOS and disable the legacy audio
device as shown in the first picture i have sent you.
    - i then disable the onboard audio as shown in
picture 2 that i have uploaded. it then cancels out
    the legacy audio device.
    - the OS then loads and tries to reinstall 1 of the
audio devices and the "install new hardware" wizard
dialog box pops up. i cancel this
    - then i go into the device manager and uninstall the
c-media sound device as shown in the 3rd picture that
i have uploaded. this c-media is the 2nd one on the
list of sound and audio devices. confusingly it shows
that the legacy audio is still installed on the
system even though i disabled it in the BIOS. might i
add that ONLY the "cmedia","gameport" and "realtek
high definition..." are the only ones that when i
right click has the option to uninstall or disable.
    - then i go to the dxdiag and put the sound
accelleration to "basic" and change the refresh rate
    to 70hz.
    - i then load the game. i login, select deathmatch,
deimos,10 players, 25 score, 10 mins, start game.
then the game goes into the loading screen. then it
shows that the game is starting with the "click fire
to start" at the top. the game then freezes instantly
and closes. i click "dont send" on 2 dialog boxes and
then i am back to square 1 with my desktop.

i have done almost everything and have spent so much
time with the game 2 try 2 get it working but its
just not getting anywhere. please can u help me!!!!

    Hi,
    Please make some things:

Give as a full information about your system.
(CPU, GPU, mainboard, ram, windows etc.)
Then look if other drivers are up to date.
Have you installed UT3 patch 1.3, too?

I cannot say if the main problem is that you have 2 sound cards.
Start the game, go to settings and disable OpenAL in audio settings.

If nothing helps and you really have stress with the sound cards, then simply unplug your pci sound card.

You don't really have 2 sound cards.
(The other one is only the front panel audio).
I'm pretty sure this doesn't cause the problem.
          Do other games run perfectly?

When you get the message after the crash (with send and not send),
click on more details and look the filename.
          For example:
          http://freenet-homepage.de/range_rider/explorer.JPG
(Not my screen, I just found it via google).

I suppose you have a motherboard incorporated sound card and an expansion sound card ? have you tried removing the expansion one and see if game loads fine like that?

i really dont want to be moving expansion slots on my motherboard, do u really think that the sound cards are the problem.

here is the launch log, ive only copied up 2 where the error occured. all i did in the game was: log in, go 2 instant play, select a map and then it loads. then it gets to the screen where it says "click 2 start" for 2 seconds and then it closes.

You need to install patch 2.0 and then the Titan pack.

This looks like a graphics error, like something not being set up properly. Out of curiosity, how big are your UTEngine.ini and DefaultEngine.ini files (one in My Docs, other in Program Files)?

those files are huge 2 download, y do i need 2 download them, i already downloaded the 3rd plugin.

YES i have the recommended system requirements, except for the dual core processor, i have a intel celeron d 3.20ghz and i have asked in many other forums abt my processor and they say its fine but im still a bit specticle about it

UTEngine.ini is 27kb (i was previously told by the midway support people to change some of the settings in that file, change some settings to equal false instead of true, but im not sure if they are still changed)
                          DefaultEngine.ini is 10kb

i appreciate all your help, i really just wanna get this game working

This really looks like a video driver error. Have you updated your video driver.
