    Unreal Editor Content missing

Hi, I bought the Collectors edition of Unreal Tournament 3 and with it came a bones DvD that taught me how to use the unreal editor. Being an aspiring graphic artist i wanted to learn how to use Unreal ed, So i followed the Tutorials but i didnt get very far before i came to a full stop. It says "Open the generic browser, Select ''File-Open'' And then he says ''In the Environments folder'' And then i realized i dont have this folder.

I thought maby i needed to download it for the website,... Nope
Mabey a diffrent site hosted the material i needed....Nope
Mabey its somwhere in the program files....Nope
Mabey its ojn the tutorial disk...Nope
    Mabey the installer disk!?!?!?!...Nope

    Can someone please help me

After the last patch I cant even find the editor exe file so I cant get the damned thing started.

If I can find out where to look I can probably help you out.

      Try seaching for it in:

      C:\ProgramFiles\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\CookedPC\Enviroments
(basicaly were you installed the game not in My Documents... follow the path after \Unreal Tournament3 )

And you'll have all the packages in there.

      @Kazimira
      Startmenu>>All programs>>Unreal Tournament 3>>Unreal Tournament 3 Editor

      Easy

Plese take note that the tutorials were made on a UT3 version prior to the final release, so some content was moved to diferent packages and other renamed or removed.

If you can´t find a material\mesh\whatever used on the tutorials just use a diferent one its really no big deal.

I found cooked pc, in utgame/unpublished/cookedpc, But only found two folders. They where Custom chars and custom maps, with nothing in them O.O I has a quad core so should i just reinstall UT3 or somthing?

I am having this sort of issue with my collector's edition install as well.
I _know_ I have /Unreal\ Tournament\ 3/UTGame/CookedPC/Enviroments/ as I have viewed it with explorer or whatever the file browser in windows is called. However, when I go to open something from the supplied editor application, as Gregtwo said it defaults to the "unpublished" directory and it will not show /Unreal\ Tournament\ 3/UTGame/CookedPC/ at all if I try to navigate to it.

Like some other people said here:

                C:/Program Files/Unreal Tournament 3/CookedPC/Environments

this is where you'll find everything, static meshes, materials and that's about all you'll need to find, and maybe even textures.

But the problem is that there used to be some static meshes in the initial version of ut3 that were some sort of tiles and also some collumns that looked really nice and in this version they took 'em out. Isn't there any kind of possibility to get those meshes back from anywhere ? I played once ut3 on rising sun and shangrila and found there those meshes and they were absolutely perfect for what i had in mind for my map and it's very teasing i can't make use of them .

****, can't believe I missed that even when it was right in front of my face.. >_>
I must admit that I am not accustomed to all this BS with installers&apps for Windows placing things everywhere they **** well want. Do not even get me started on the "Registry".
....... windows. I miss Unix pwnageness.

Ok, now that I have sufficiently made a fool of myself during first impression I think I will go away for a while and try to deal with a completely unrelated actual software issue UT3 is having on occasion.
Plenty of seemingly similar posts on the forum, just too bad they either involve third party sound cards(that I do not have), in-game settings(that I had off last I checked), or hardware issues(that I have ruled out by means of separate stress testing)

Do not worry I will refrain from hijacking this thread. :P

                    On another content missing issue...

I get this when I close down Kizmet.

Can't open file '..\UTGame\Config\UTKizmet_layout.xml' (error 5: acesss is denied.)

If you have Vista disable UAC in Windows User Accounts\Control Panel.

OK so far this has been quite useful for me to see what programs are makeing changes to the computer. Even if its slightly anoying.

Just a slight securaty consern here. What is it about that program that messes with the editor?

                        The two seem unrelated.

Edit: OK done it but dont know why it works.

Because Vista uses the UAC tool to protect files from being changed\modified by unknown or non ssl certified programs and tools, wich helps prevent virus and malware to modify files on your hdd.

Unfortunatly its a technology that needs improvemt and is more of an hassle than helpful as it is, so disabling it is more useful than keeping it on.

Don't worry you wont lose anything or have any risk by disabling it.
