    Freezing/Lock up problem

To start off i'm having a problem with the map "deck". I'm not exactly sure if it's a bug (though the nature of this problem kind of seems like it though i'm not sure) or a problem with my hardware/and or driver conflict. Whenever i use a redeemer in the level and then the link gun when i step anywhere close to the portal at the bottom of the stage the game will freeze on me...it doesn't otherwise from what I can tell but everytime in that exact scenario it will, i've tested it over several times as well (just using the codes "god" and "loaded" to do so). I've noticed this specifically since i've applied patch 1.3. I don't know for sure though if it does it on the previous version. So my question is..is there anybody else that's had this sort of problem or could it just be something else?

    Here are my relevant specs:

    Intel Core 2 Duo e8400 3.0ghz OC'd to 3.6ghz
ATI/AMD 4850 (stock settings other than fan manually set to 50%)
    4GB DDR2 800 RAM
    Windows XP Professional (x86) SP2
Unreal Tournament III Patch 1.3 applied, .net framework 1.1 and 2.0 installed (I've heard if 1.1 hasn't been installed problems may arise)
    Nothing like OpenAL enabled

..oh and yes my system is stable as far as the overclock goes, I could and have left it on for days on an intensive game and i've done other stability tests on it. I've tested it all at stock anyway as well.

Have you tried reinstalling and manually updating patch by patch to pinpoint the problem to 1.3?

      Sure.

I assume that's really all of it that's needed that's relevant. For the video driver it's catalyst 8.7 by the way.

...and no I haven't gone patch by patch to pinpoint it. I'll probably go back and try out the regular old retail version (1.0) but I probably won't spend that much time going through and downloading each patch...so yeah I don't know if it was something that came up from 1.2 to 1.3. I guess i'll try at least unpatched altogether.

That isn't the only relevant part, quite the contrary actually but this doesn't seem to be a hardware issue.

The only thing I can tell you is that the updates are more than likely conflicting with one of your drivers.

Sorry I can't be any more help than suggesting patching them one by one.

I mostly meant relevant when it came to the hardware but yeah. Anyway thanks. It seems a lot of people have problems with ATI cards and this game...this map in particular so i'm not really gonna get my hopes up too much anyway. I appreciate it though.

Yeah doesn't look as if its a hardware issue.
Have you tried experimenting with different catalyst drvs ??
To note, there is a .net 3.0 and 3.5...not sure if they'll make a difference though.

Does this freeze happen almost at the same exact point in Deck, in the slime pit? Basically, its almost at the exact same spot, right in the middle area (at the bottom of the slime pit) between the portal/rocket launcher on one side, and the platform area where the shieldbelt is, on the other side? (you're almost inbetween the two, when the freeze occurs)?
