    C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Unpublished\CookedPC\Environments\LT_Mech .upk

and as i finish typing... my editor just finished loading

Best of luck w/ your system and UT3 issues.

Hmmmm I do not have what you say but I do have

    UN_Terrain.upk
    UN_Speedtrees.upk

    In that folder.

    Also have

    LocalShaderCache-PC-D3D-SM2.upk
    LocalShaderCache-PC-D3D-SM3.upk

    In the cooked pc folder.

Any one know if these can cause an issue?

No, you shouldn't delete the default files.

I've often had a similar problem. Usually, deleting (archiving to be safe) any file in the Unpublished folder (all that ShaderCache stuff) has fixed it.

Also, when reinstalling, I've installed to a new directory in Program Files - New Unreal Tournament 3. That way, the new installation can't see anything left behind by the old one.

For all that, my current problem is not going away. The initial cause seems to be that a package gets corrupted. My latest idea is to rename the directory in My Games to force a clean one to be created. I'll let you know how I get on.

remove those - launch the game - frag on my friend

the reason this is a problem, is due to duplicate packages - those are core packages that come with the game and when working on maps, it's possible to cause these to get saved with your custom content - so the game chokes due to finding duplicates (i think).

Your prob may be in your custom content..... I know you do not want to hear this but i have had this prob after downloading maps and the only way I could fix it was by reinstalling all my custom content. To test after uninstalling UT3 move your custom content from "my games" to somwhere UT3 wont find it (root of hard drive, or whichever folder outside of documents you like.....) Do NOT delete it yet because if it aint the prob no point reinstalling all your custom content. Now reinstall UT3 into a new directory, and try to open the editor WITHOUT moving your custom content into "my games"..... If editor works now you are on the right track.... Next move your "published" folder back to where it belongs and try the editor again, if editor still works now is a prob with a map you are working on yourself IE "unpublished" If it works after reinstall but wont work after you put "Published" back then im sorry but your best bet is to reinstall all your custom content yourself This worked for me, hope it works for u

I've now done a clean install into a new directory, I've hidden all my stuff from MyGames, and still the Editor won't start. I also hid the .ini files that were suggested. I'm pretty much out of ideas, other than doing a full reformat.

what i want to know, is how it didn't fix it by reinstalling. it should delete all the packages then install the default ones.

You would think so but now I know where to look first next time this happens again.
