UT3 has stopped working!!! Help me, please!!

    UT3 has stopped working!!! Help me, please!!

    I'm freaking out with this game, I'm fighting with it for 2 days and nothing... I'm running:
    Windows Vista SP1
    GeForce 8400M GS
    Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 (2.4 GHz)
    4Gb DDR RAM
    250Gb hard drive,

    I've installed latest audio and video drivers, I've downloaded latest version of directX, I've read all the posts concerning this game on this forum, and still nothing the game doesn't want even to start for a while.. When I try to turn it on a sign occurs: "UT3.exe has stopped working... bla bla bla..."
    Oh and I've installed UT3patch1.2 and it didn't help in anyway...!!!! Is anyone able to tell me what shall I do now?? It really **** me offff.....

    Try deleting your ini files in your MyDocs/MyGames/UT3/UTGame/Config directory. Yes, I abreviated the names, but you should be able to figure it out. That will give you new default files when you start the game. You will need to re-enter your dvd code.

    If that works, you should keep copies of your working ini files as backups. This is a common thing.

    One other thing to try is to empty or delete everything in your UT3 Cache Directory. MyDocs/MyGames/UT3/UTGame/Cache/

    Also, make sure your windows firewall is disabled as well as any AV programs.

      Thank You oldkawman for your attention, I really appreciate it!! I tried to do what you told me to do, but nothing has changed (well maybe except the log file seems to be diffrent righ now, I'll put it again after it's changed maybe you'll see some other ways for me.. in anyway I tried the first way you adviced me to go, as I don't have a chache folder in myDocs/mygames/Ut........ I don't know why:P I'm not that advanced user ;P

      hmm but I suppose the error is still caused by the same thing isn't it??
      This game is just a waste of money;/////
      Couldn't it be just as beautiful as the first UT was??

        Dunno but might be your card.
        Funny how the Log says your CPU is a Pentium III.

        Also:

        You could try and delete the shader cache files and make sure your documents folder isnt "read only"

        They are located at :
        My Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Published\CookedPC

        They go by this name :
        LocalShaderCache-PC-D3D-SM3.upk
        RefShaderCache-PC-D3D-SM3.upk
        RefShaderCache-PC-D3D-SM2.upk
        RefShaderCache-PC-D3D-SM4.upk


        They game will create new Shader cache files try it and it hopefully will solve your problem.

        And since you are runing Vista make sure you run the game as an Administrator.

          Well Thank You voodoomaster, 4 Ur advice but there's something strange about my game folders, I don't have one called "Published" there's one called "unpuplished" in myDocs/myGames/UT3/... but there's no shader files at all there are two other folders both of them empty any ideas why?? I suppose the game should create some files in those folders and that is probably why the game doesn't want to start but I've no idea why is this happening... I've uninstalled my NortonAV completely, to make sure that there's no influence of the AV software, and I reinstalled the game.. and still nothing I'm really freaking out with this game
          I'm counting for You're help.. please let me know if You figure out any other ideas...

            Right click on the MyGames folder hit properties and deselect the "Read Only" check box if it is selected.

            Then open your UT3 installation folder and go to the "Binaries" folder in there right click on UT3.exe file and select run as Administrator.

            I believe by not having the shader files there means that you don't have writing abilities on the my documents folder, try doing this.

            [Edit] You can also create the "Published" folder while youre at it.

              not having a "published" map is normal, it was the same for me. When I first downloaded custom user-made maps I had to create that folder manually and copy the maps in there, but not having it before I still could play normally.

                I suppose Ur right VooDooMaster the MyGames folder acctualy is set to be read-only, but I can't change it not to be one ;/ When I'm turning it not to be read only it accepts my request but when I'm checking the folder status it's reaad-only again ;/ ****in' Vista ;/ I've no idea how to manage with it.. I'm the admin of my comp so why can't i change that folder status not to be read only?? though it doesn't say to me that I can't do it!!!!!!!;/
