Hell...nVidia never released a fix for the 8800 series stutering and hitching on UT2004 in 2 years now.....
BUT the MOST popular game engine in the world?
Ive tried ATI AND nVidia.....core2 Extreme x6800, core2 Quad Extreme QX9650.....
3 mobos 2 psu's and 12 different sticks of ram with 10 000 rpm hdd's to boot...and the game still sputters in any action with input latency that makes you want to email yur shots & dodges to the server for faster service.

My newest card..the 9800GTRX crashes and locks up the entire PC regularly. So did the hd3870's one at a time or in crossfire. They ALL had issues running the game smoothly or reliably despite getting 90-180 fps non stop. With this kind of hitching....you fall out of the air midjump, yur shots release at erratic rates...POINTLESS to try playing still after 6 months. Feels like I'm playing with a nintendo cotroller and oven mitts on.
OUCH....what do I need Epic? ....an 8core Extreme and Quad sli ? ( which has NEVER resolved the micro stutter issue [game killer] in games )

    its not the graphics card...
there is no such thing as an Nvidia 9800GTRX... only the 9800GTX which is $400.

I'm sure you haven't looked at all the possible causes so don't bother posting unless you have more info...

I realy cant imagine stuttering on a system like yours. Mine is way les powerfull and I can play ut3 without any stuttering. If the stuttering happens when you are playing online it's porbably because you have a bad connection. You should only enter a game that has a PING below 100ms. If you are having stuttering in offline play ( against bots) as well I suggest you check if it's maybe your soundcard that is causing problems (it has happened to me).

He has a point about this game largely being ignored -at least with official WHQL released drivers. Nvidia did release a so-called fix for the stutter issue: beta 169 .28 ,I say so-called because doesn't really fix the hoverboard shakes at all.

174.74 is currently the best beta imo, but even this still has issues with shakes/stutter. These days you get the feeling with Nvidia a new gen comes out, series 9 ,and they drop interest in all that's gone before we're still on December 07 WHQL wise.

I ran servers....I've read over 500 hours of tutorials on mapmaking, server admining, and
                I edited ini files
Ive built over 250 custom air, water & peltier cooled gaming rigs
and they all do the same thing on every rig that I've installed it on.
I must emphasize that by smooth...I mean smooth compared to other versions of UT.
At best it plays like Halo...slow..floaty and erratic...not to mention mad screen tearing ...despite using every ini tweak out there.
User error on 4 different rigs I use ? All parts are benchmark winners...
hell...even Crysis doesnt do this on any of my rigs.

Unfortuneatly I got spoiled for ut03's and ut04's razer sharp response times on all the rigs I built.

Lag? I'm connected to a fibre optic network...zero packet loss and <50ms server pings. The only time I get what is mislabelled as lag....I'm near a hax player that delays data to me.( I discovered a byproduct of botters that shows in server data...that shows that they delay packets to opponents [ delay of packets is not lag ... but manipulation of the net by cheats] ask me for the data to prove it ... Epic hasn't in 2 years)

As for the lack of support from vid card manufacturers....it seems like they look down on this particular game and it's issues.

This sounds like a network problem. Does this happen when you play instant action or just online? Have you updated your chipset/mobo drivers? Have you tried disabling your integrated lan and using a pci card? Have you tried removing your sound card?

Ever since day one of owning an NVIDIA card (TNT2) I have NEVER used the official release drivers and have contually updated with the latest available beta release with next to no problems in the years of doing so. The 175 driver which was released on the 28th of April yielded an extra 300ish in 3DMark06 and the previous version (174.74 as you mentioned) was a huge improvement over the 169.28 release.

As for your system stuttering mine is not quit on par with your and I have NO issues with stuttering, etc. whatsoever so you have an install issue or driver plaguing your system somewhere. First place to start is a clean install of the latest drivers for your video and mobo and move forward from there Im convinced you'll eventually address the issue even if you don't know what exactly resolved it.

No sh*t...Sherlock....gtrx is a typo...speaking of not posting....go correct spelling mistakes on Webster's dictionary site. I'm posting about the obvious lack of UT3 support from video card manufacturers not my specific issues to begin with.
I listed the fact that every ini tweak I know has been tried.
I listed that I have built four rigs that are supposed to run the game "smoothly" including many of the vital parts...
and quite frankly im a little tired of listing the same test result over and over again only to have petty people flame the post instead of being helpful. Not looked??? I think we can safely assume that Ive tried every driver except nVidia's latest beta made specially for the new 3dmark Vista Advantage 3d test. Ive tried multiple reinstalls with reformat...jeez Microsoft knows me by first name now.( And YES...I've done this on every single of the four rigs repeatedly )
Do YOU HAVE ADVICE/FEEDBACK ??? or just insecure thoughtless opinions?
When I feel like posting for specific help...I will post it in the troubleshooting section..with all relevant info.

The point of the post is to get a consensus on high end video cards...and how people are finding the game's glitchiness on them ( or supposed lack thereof )...MAYBE even a little advice on what it took to get it running without input reponse latency, fps and performance drops with medium to heavy gunfire, and crashes. Any thought on why UT3 is being ignored by the vid card companies?

As for network issues.... it happens online or instant action( much worse near very specific players online ) and my typical input latency SAYS 20-50 ms but responds much much later....( I literally dont know when to time shots or moves...cuz the timing always changes shot to shot/movement to movement ) on ati rigs...on nVidia rigs... on latest drivers for chipsets, soundcards ( or lack thereof )..heck ..my cpu usage on the QX9650 never goes past 70% maxed out..and averages 50-60%...and I never see more than 2Gb of ram being used at max.
I guess I must just keep picking the losing parts then....ati/nVidia....asus/dfi......ocz/mushkin/corsair...dual core/quadcore/Extreme versions also...hmmmmmmmmm.

Getting max fps all the time....
If you are informed about fps....it gives the AVEREAGE fps...not showing stutter in the averages. I got "max fps" and beyond with my overclocks and tweaks....but I'm still dropping out of the air midjump...and always guessing when the movement keys will register with movement on screen...with four different rigs and never below 90 fps ( the online maximum ).

Bottom line....Bioshock got fixes...other UE3 games got fixes.....just seems funny when the flagship game from the most popular engine gets no fixes despite being the most glitchy game of all UE3 games.

EDIT: BTW...I'm not sure why the post got moved from general discussion when I'm no longer even invested in troubleshooting ( I gave up when I realized that Epic silences people that complain about the obvious botting & CD key theft epidemic that has plagued Unreal engines )....
It is just an observational post on how sad the support has left most that bought the game and a hope for some consensus on what DOES run the game smoothly...if anything)

oh, look i just saved the UT3 community~!
Its one of the shaders that is either written wrong or poorly optimized whenever Detailmode=1 or 2. This causes the stuttering and erratic frames that this tech section is filled with, but for some reason no one wants to listen because everyone wants to max out the game because they are in love with their monster PC's and turning a setting off will ruin their ego.... only half kidding here.

Seems about the same on a Logiturd G5,G7 and Razer Copperhead.....

Im really more curious at this point if anyone has info on: 1) ATI/nVidia driver fixes for ut3 that have helped 2) any news on the lack of driver fixes for ut3 3) Any gossip that something is in the pipeline from either video giant. 4) Patch 1.3 release date info

I'm dying here...video driver & ut3.exe crashes to this day, input lag (k/b & mouse), no widescreen support, video hitches and/or stutter, duplicate logon detected kicks, gamespy logon crashes, guessing who is on a server,
large performance fluctuations even when fps is staying high....
                              ouch, ouch,ouch
