    Game delay, help

    Hey guys,

I recently bought UT 3 and I have a few issues I would like answered.

On campaign: When I watch the videos they run smoothly but sometimes jam for a few seconds, meaning it's stuck but when I wait a bit it continues.

At the accept mission, detail etc screen (where u see the globe) the screen flikkers with colors a lot, meaning parts of the globe turn purple for a sec or something.

Last question: When I play campaign everything runs smoothly with no problems on the highest resolution but when I play online the reactions of my character are delayed when I ride a vehicle or my hooverboard and shots are late aswel (like when I shoot a rocket it deploys 0.5 second later) giving me a pretty thick disadvantage.

Anyone know what the problems might be? I've got 1 gig DDR 2 RAM, nvidia GeForce 7800 GTX and AMD 3500 proc giving me 2.2 gh speed.

    Thanks in advance

I think you need a little more RAM (2GB or more--depends upon OS) and processor (Dual-Core or better)--that would help with the "jamming." Also, check to make sure your video drivers are up to date (use WHQL).

I'm not that good with computers but I'll contact my PC guy today and we'll check on some upgrades!

But if I upgrade my RAM and proc do u think that will fix the delay of my shots and steering aswel?

PS: I've checked my video drivers and they are up-to-date

That sounds like more of a ping issue to me, so no.

It takes time for the information from your end (client) to make it to the server. It's the server that's actually keeping track of all the game information. That delay is known as lag, and can be somewhat determined by your ping. Ping is the number that shows up in the server browser next to the server name. Lower is better. Many people are ok with a ping under 100. Others, known affectionately as ping snobs , will tell you that much less than 100 is preferable. The best I've had was in the thirties, but I'm happy if it's just double digits.

No matter what you do, there will always be lag in an internet game.

P.S. New CPU is more important than more RAM, although yes 2 gigs is ideal. You want a dual core CPU, and if you have to upgrade your motherboard I suggest you go with intel this time and get a core 2 duo.
