    7800gtx capabilites in UT3

I have two 7800gtx's sli'd and i'm getting pretty poor frame rates when the settings are maxed out with a resolution of 1280x1024. Is that normal? I know these cards arent exactly new but they are definitely not bad and i figured i'd be able to run ut3 with high settings. Is there something wrong or are my cards just too old to run it? I compared my cards performance to a single 7900gs and the gs ran it better maxed out than my sli'd 7800gtx's did! any help?

    Basic specs:
    Core 2 duo 6750
    2gb ddr 800 ram
    2x Evga 7800gtx 256mb KO edition

Maybe the problem is your CPU. And 7800 is getting old by now.

your system should run it great, have you tried disabling sli?

Go into the Nvidia control panel and force the SLI mode to AFR2 in the UT3 profile. It fixed the issues with my BFG 7900GTX OCs. After that you shouldn't have a problem in 1280x1024 mode with all maxed out.

YES, AFR2 will sort you out.

          My very obsolete specs;
          Opty 180 @ 2.6GHz (socket 939)(AMD Dual-Core Optimizer)
DFI Infinity NF4 SLI (nforce 6.85 driver)
          2GB DDR400 (value ram, 4x512MB single sided)

BFG Ageia PhysX (1.1.1.14 driver)(quiet Vantec ICEBERG5 cooler)
SB Live 24 bit (1.004.0055 driver)
XP64 pro SP2 until Linux port arrives
          1600x1200, 3-3 quality, 38-85 FPS (I set a 85 FPS cap)
          1600x1200, 3-3 quality, 26-70 FPS PhysX maps

yeah the AF2 helped increase a few frames but i still have to drop the world details and texture sliders down to 4 for an average of 60 fps. even then it still drops down to 30 occationaly but it seems better. i tried disabling sli and it actually ran almost the same which i think is really weird... shouldnt sli make it much better? thanks for help!

On my system SLI smoothes out the frames with UT3. It doesn't run much faster than in single card mode. Locked at 60 fps in 1280x1024 resolution. I also get a smooth 60 fps graphics maxed
Keep in mind that the 7 series nvidia cards are showing their age now. It's time to upgrade to play this spring and summer game releases.
              CPU: AMD FX62 at 9.2Ghz
              RAM: 4Gb Patriot DDR2

You have 256MB cards, not sure if that is a big factor at 1280x1024, should not be. What driver are you running? I run 169.04 driver with 3-3 quality at 1600x1200 and get ~80% more FPS with AFR2 than without it. Have you monitored your temp levels? How big is your power supply? You need at least a 600 watt supply and lots of air flow for SLI.

My psu is actually 600 watts but my case doesn’t have all that good airflow. Could that actually slow the cards down? They do get pretty hot but I thought if they were too hot I would have artifacts when I play games for long periods of time. My drivers are 169.21 and I do get a pretty good gaming experience with the sliders at 4 and running AF2 which ended up being much better than AF1. Should I be trying beta drivers or should I actually be running older drivers?

                    I have

                    Single core 3.3ghz intel

                    Only 1gb RAM 533mhz

                    And an overclock 7600 256mb

I run the game at 1024x768 with Texture on 4, and world on 4 and i get around 40 fps average, its not good i know but this pc will have to do for another 2 months

Your system is WAY WAY WAY better than mine so i don't know why you have problems. Why not try disabling SLI and trying each card seperately? see if its one of the cards?

It *COULD* be an airflow problem, search google for ATI tool and it will tell you your card temps or just use Nvidias control pannel.

                    7800s should run around 60-70

What FPS are you averaging, and at what settings?
