9600 GT sli set up issues

    Well to put it simply,

    my rig is :
    windows XP 32bit
    Intel Pentium D 2.8ghz
evga Nvidia 9600 GT x2 SLI enabled
    3 gigs of ram

My performance in UT3 is horrible 18 and lower. I change setting and drop quality and there is no change what so ever. I'm running the game at 1600x1200.

Any thoughts on why this might be happening.

If your processor is pre-rendering frames, can it manage 1600x1200? Did you try all of the listed INI fixes for performance issues?

      Looks like your going to have at least 3 issues;
#1 nvidia driver issues with a NEW card
#2 The Pent D will make your setup CPU limited
#3 nvidia SLI driver issues with a NEW card

I recommend addressing the first 2 issues for now and waiting on the 3rd.

So, first of all, remove the 2nd 9600 card and see what your rig can do in single card mode. Once you have that all worked out, you can play around with SLI. You may have a bit of a wait on that.

ZipZoomFly has a Cooler Master Real Power Pro 750 watt supply for sale with a rebate, only $80 after the rebate. They also have a Cooler Master 600 watt supply for $70. Either of those are a very good deal. Remember, bigger is better.

hmm thanks for all the suggestions guys.

I have tried all the .ini fixes

sli runs uber crappy compared to single card mode. I don't want to wait on SLI as it's the reason I upgraded this rig. Any idea if there are any new SLI beta drivers?

M8 its (caz its newer) this propably caz they all run along the same guidelines, but because the card is newer its probably less stable for UT3.
also, isnt the max res in uT3 1280 x 1024? or is it just that because of my monitor?

That limitation is set by your monitor. I've seen other rigs run fine with this set up, I think it might be my ASUS mother board or the SLI bridge connector.

Did you try different SLI modes? AFR2? If AFR2 does not help, you'll just have to wait for nvidia to get a driver released.

Crappy performance as you are massivly CPU limited.

P4D really isn't enough to push SLi 9600's, infact it'd be hard pushed to keep up with a single card.

Get it changed to even a basic Core2 CPU and you'll see your performance leap up.

you should have bought a new CPU instead of another video card? or uhh, unless thats the best you can get for your mobo

                          9600 crash issues

I have a core 2 duo, 2.5 gb ram, and just through in a 9600 GT. It runs on high really well for about a minute and then it just straight crashes. I'm runnin other games and programs just fine. I have new drivers dl'd n everything. Is it a problem I can't fix cuz its a new card?

Very good move, that 6750 has great bang for the buck. At under $200 it will likely OC to 3.0GHz or more.

I cannot believe they actually still sell the Pent D, but they do. It's cheap, but not that cheap seeing as it performs like a single core sempron.
