Settings are not stored after game restart

Not sure if this is exactly the same problem as you have, but it appears to be a known problem -

Hi, greetings to all,
Well, here's my problem:

After a fresh install and applying patch 1.1, I tried to play and to set my game up.
I config my game and entered the CD-Key.
The game prompted a restart message and so I did.
After the game restart, the game prompted a CD-key message (again!) and all my settings were reset to default.
I tried a lot of things, but the game never stored my settings and neither my CD- Key.

My system specs:

CPU: AMD Athlon-XP M 3200+@2300 MHZ
MoBo: Epox 8rda3+Pro (w/latest BIOS and Drivers)
Sound: Audigy SE (w/latest drivers)
VGA: ATI Radeon X1950 Pro (Agp edition w/latest Omega drivers 7.12)
OS: MS Windows XP SP2 w/latest system updates

Please, help, I really want to play this game and I can't.

By the way, I had the same problem with the demo edition, and it didn't store my settings.
