installation error

I have tried 3 times to install UT3 on my pentiun 3.2 GHz PC and it comes up with a system error message and tries to send a report to microsoft every time. I have XP SP2. Does anyone have a suggestion what I can try as the error message has nothing useful for me in it. Any help greatly appreciated or its back to the games shop for a refund.

I copied the CD to the c drive and tried to install it from there with the same error message every time.
I think I have enough hardware to run this game at a basic level but this installation problem leaves me nowhere to go.
Any clues would be appreciated.

Sounds like faulty ram or virus.

Which OS are you running? XP or Vista and 32 or 64-bit?

From your post, you have yet to follow the instructions posted in it.

If that does not work, try a clean bare bones install, you will need a spare hard drive. Disconnect your current drive and hook up the spare. Install your OS on the spare drive and nothing beside the required drivers to run the game and the game itself. Nothing else at all and see how it runs then. If it does not run, you likely have a hardware issue such as memory, cpu, etc.

Running XP SP2 32 bit I think.
I just updated Direct x from microsoft site, no change.
May have to go and get the RAM checked/upgraded and a full virus check. VET has found nothing so far.

Without a spare HD lying around this will be tricky, Could I try reinstalling XP or go to a very early restore point? Are there diognostic tools I could download to check RAM etc?
