Too little RAM maybe? Think the minimal requirements is 1Gig. Also, you didn't post your graphics card info.

        Edit:
        I was wrong:

        Minimum Requirements

        Minimum System Requirements
        • Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista
        • 2.0+ GHZ Single Core Processor
        • 512 Mbytes of System RAM
        • NVIDIA 6200+ or ATI Radeon 9600+ Video Card
        • 8 GB of Free Hard Drive Space

I don't know man, I"m sure the answer is in these threads somewhere. Sounds like a pretty generic problem.

Did you try the Tracked Issues Sticky:

UT.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close: A crash right at launch.
        Status: OPEN (2 solutions available)
Solution: If using ATI hardware, ensure "Support DXT Texture Formats" in the Catalyst Control Centre is enabled (3D --> More Settings).
Solution: If using ATI hardware, in the utengine.ini set the following values:
        Under [Engine.ISVHacks]
        set: DisableATITextureFilterOptimizationChecks=False
        set: bInitializeShadersOnDemand=True
        set: PumpWindowMessagesWhenRenderThreadStalled=True
        Under [SystemSettings]
        set: OnlyStreamInTextures=True
        Main Thread: http://utforums.epicgames.com/showth...ighlight=crash

Don't know if that's your problem or not. Also, if you didn't by the game legit, you'll get problems with the .exe I'd assume. So, make sure your **** is bought and paid for!

Thats still not good enough for information. What are your full system specs such as Motherboard, GPU(Graphics Card W/ Series EXAMPLE: XFX NVidia 8500GT 512MB), CPU(Processor), PSU(Power Supply EXAMPLE ULTRA 500w PSU*Might not need to post this*), RAM(You better have at least 1GB or better), OS(XP,VISTA,ect...)

i wouldnt play it with anything under 1 GIG RAM anyways. You also need a pretty decent GFX card to go along with that for playable conditions.

I still don't think the problem has been described well enough. When is the crash happening? At the splash screen? In the menu?

What have you tried from the stickies? How much video ram do you have? Is it shared, by any chance? 448mb is below the minimum spec of 512mb posted in this thread. This game needs a safe mode like the first one did!
