    Net Game Hangs at "Connecting..."

I'm having connection issues, but not the usual "looks like it's starting but then says Connetion failed". I can browse internet games, etc. but upon trying to connect, it simply hangs indefinitely at "Connecting...".

No driver issues, no firewall/router problems, everything with my computer is 110%. Just trust me on that one. The only other problem I had was initially getting the game to change resolutions, but that's working now and completely irrelevant anyway. Hardware specs are irrelevant as well. Thanks for your time.

What worked for me is disabling my WiFi router's firewall, as it was causing havok for me. I could browse, but some videos would halt, and file downloads would stop and never pick back up. Also in UT3 I'd drop connection and have to log back into my Gamespy account.

Same exact problem for me...I rarely get the "connection failed" problem because it never gets that far...

Connection failed is still an issue they're trying to solve afaik.

No firewall and/or routing problems. LOL... I really wish it was that simple, but unfortunately it's not.

I don't say this often because I don't want to sound arrogant, but I'm an IT systems analyst, DBMS/informations systems/applications developer and programmer, technical consultant, and PC service/repair technician with a legally registered LC/LLC.

So... that will hopefully tell anyone looking into this issue that I know my stuff, it's real, and it's not just port forwarding or routing. And I know my hardware as well, so it's not that either. Oh, one other important thing... this is standard USA release without any patches. With so many other "connection failed" problems, I would think this has a strong possibility of being related, although it looks to me like the patch is causing the majority of them...? I obviously haven't seen the UT3 source code, so that's all I can say on the matter...

Last I read, yes. But I've let it sit at "Connecting..." for almost half an hour once. I've never gotten a "Connection Failed", not once. Being a developer/programmer myself, I would say that it would be foolish to assume every connection problem is the same issue. Oh well... no multiplayer for now either way. Thanks everyone. I hope we can all get to playing soon!

            Connecting... Connecting... Connecting...

**** this "Connecting..." I am having the exact same issue. I am trying to host a LAN game, which means that there is no issue with port forwarding, but i am still having the "Connecting..." issue. It just sits at that screen, almost indefinitely. I have also checked out the dedicated server console, and it seems that the the server is seeing that my second machine has opened the net port, but thats as far as it will go. It also sees when i cancel the connecting. but it refuses to actually start the game. I am now downloading the 1.1 patch, in the hopes that the problem will be solved. i will keep you posted.

Connection Failed: Some customers are experiencing great difficulty connecting to servers, often resulting in a 'connection failed' error message. Many, once they applied the beta patch, can connect to the UMG deathmatch server, but no other.
Solution: On ASUS motherboards (and potentially others) updating your integrated LAN hardware's drivers have solved this issue.
Solution: If it takes you more than 30 seconds to load a map, the default servers will timeout and believe your client dropped. Things that can improve loadtime are disabling custom characters in the settings menu, increasing the amount of RAM in the system, and upgrading to a fast CPU.
Note: Using a key generated by a pirate key generator online will result in 'Connection Failed'.
Note: Using a key that is already in use by other player will result in 'Connection Failed'.
