I've been trying for 4 hours to fix these errors:

    AppName: ut3.exe
    AppVer: 0.0.0.0
    ModName: kernel32.dll
    ModVer: 5.1.2600.3119
    Offset: 00012a5b

I honestly don't know what to try next...I've tried the true False thing on the front page and such.

    My specs are...

    Windows XP
Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset family = My Video Card
    0.99 GB of Ram
    3.0 GHz
Over 100 Gigs of free space as well.

Any help is much appreciated since I've been looking forward to buying this game all weekend and it ends up not even going past the Cover Pic when you double click on the Shortcut.

This might already have been explained, but can anyone tell me if/how it's possible to display other people's ping and time connected when pressing F1?

basically the same scoreboard as in older UT's, where you could see how long someone was connected, and his ping. surely there must be a way to display that information by changing something in an .ini file?
    much appreciated!

Except one small problem, when playing onnline sometimes i get a Timed Out from the ut3 server.
This is only with ut3 and it happends only once or twice.
When i reconnect i can play for longer time.
    I think this is a ut3 bug.
And with ut2004 another small bug appeared, I have problems playing DM-Trainingday.
It feels like lag, also when playing this map instant action.
Have measured framerate , stat FPS, that indicates it must be running fine.
Hehe, simpelst map is now a bottleneck for my computer.
Large, big complicated maps are not a problem.
    Strange !!!
What the cause is of this, i do not know.
But for the rest computer runs superfast, also ut3 !
I cannot whait for new patch ut3.

So, to play ut3 you must update almost everything, directX - Bios - Newest VGA drivers , etc.

    Greetings to you all.
    Willem.
Try setting "Smooth frame rate" on. YOu can find howtos everywhere you look.

    what is OpenAL

i'm not sure what you are talking about with OpenAL. I cant find it anywhere in the in-game menus. In-game meaning while I am playing the game.
sorry about my ignorance but i'm new to computer gaming and just got the game.
also, what is hitching? i'm not sure what the technical word is for my problem but my framerate could be better and it freezes about once every fifteen seconds. just a short freeze that kind of throws me off.
i'm going to continue reading to find what other help you've already offered.

I checked the website you posted for Laptop drivers and Modded INFs, but the only one I could find for my configuration has had reported issues with the GPU cooling system (that is, the cooling system stops working properly and cards are overheating).

My system setup is as follows:

    Dell XPS M170 (Notebook)
    Intel Pentium M 2.13+ GHz
    2 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GO 7800 GTX 256 MB

That's everything relevant, I think. I play with Texture Detail 2 and with the resolution at 1280x800 (the lowest Widescreen Resolution available).

I've had similar hitching issues in other games, most notably both Half-Life 2 "Sequels" (Episodes 1 and 2). In each case, as it is in UT3, everything seems to freeze for several seconds, the audio starts skipping and eventually cuts out, and then everything resumes as if it were normal. Sometimes I can stay in the exact location that causes the hitching and, in this position, my screen will become filled with random colored shapes, completely obscuring the image. If I move away from this spot, everything returns to normal - if I move back in, everything gets screwy again.

One last interesting problem - the text in my UI is somewhat screwed up. It appears that approximately halfway across any line of text, any colored portion of it is suddenly stretched off to one side. This makes the Main Menu UI difficult to read as the messages displayed are often cut off.

As I said, I've tried everything you recommended EXCEPT for getting updated Video Drivers and Modified INF files from LaptopVideo. That makes me suspect at least that this is a Driver Issue.

Any further recommendations would be most helpful! Thanks in advance!
I get something similar on Dell Vostro 1700 that has internal Geforce 8600M GT GPU. Unfortunately the notebook video drivers are different from desktop and they havent come out with something to fix it. Whats most likely happening is that your video driver is crashing.

    Thanks a lot man.

Don't resolve my trouble (my graphics is like 8-bit) but I appreciate your help.

    Have a nice day!

You have to download thei drivers from the Dell site. The Nvidia one will most probably not cooperate perfectly.
I'll look there again, but I seem to remember checking a while back and there were no new ones for my card.

Interesting note, I just played an Instant Action, and a "hitching spot" just happened to appear ON a friendly bot. So every time I looked at him my screen had crazy lines and shapes and beams of light that completely obscured the image. Was kind of funny seeing a big ball of light and color say "I have the Orb!" and go charging into a firefight.

I have a Asus A6T laptop with a nvidia Go7600. I had problems with the game hanging up and the nvd_disp bluescreen. Anyway after trying some stuff from this thread I found a solution.

First off, I have all graphics on the lowest setting except for resolution which im going at 1280*768 with 800*600ish scaled. Then I tried with the modded nvidia drivers, game worked fine but I got problems with other parts of the card's functionallity.

    bInitializeShadersOnDemand=True

Look at the first post in this thread, you should find where it is.

Was all I had to do to get it all working perfectly so far. Might increase the graphics details and try as well, but since I had crashes both on high graphics and low graphics I think it has to do with the setting.

I think I have the same problem as Anakin14 and Capt. Maverick, where the splash screen loads and my processor jumps to 100% and stays there until I manually end the UT3 process. Before I manually end it (I have let it sit on the splash screen for 15 minutes before ending it), I don't receive an error message, and I don't ever see a black screen.

    My Specs:
    • Microsoft Windows Vista 64-Bit Home Premium
    • ASUS P5E3 Deluxe/WiFi-AP LGA 775 Intel X38 ATX Intel Motherboard
–Onboard Audio: ADI® AD1988B 8-channel High Definition Audio CODEC
    • Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz
    • 2 x DIAMOND Radeon HD 3870 512MB (7.12 catalyst drivers)
    • Patriot 4GB(2 x 2GB) DDR3 1333
    • PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad EPS12V 750W Power Supply

I built this system last week and every other piece of software performs as intended. I don't have any software installed (besides Vista, Office 2007, crysis, steam, catalyst control center, speedfan, CPU-Z) as my comp is pretty much brand new, so I am thinking the only thing that could be conflicting with UT3 is my drivers and/or hardware.

Steps I have taken in troubleshooting:
    • Edited the UTEngine.ini
    • Enabled Support DXT textures
    • Deleted the .ini files in config folder and let the game recreate
    • Uninstall and reinstall UT3
    • Updated all hardware drivers
    • Disabling aero
    • Disabling anything that might prevent UT3 from accessing the internet
    • Running UT3 after a clean boot

I am very frustrated and never in my life have I had this much trouble getting a game, let alone any piece of software, to run. Please let me know if you have any advice, or if you find someone in the same situation that has solved this. Thanks!
might be your sound chip. that's the only thing your system has different than most peoples.
