    Hmm option doesn't seem to work here, i use "E:\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries\UT3.exe" -nosound but i still get sound.
    How do i use the -nosound option ? (Saves me the ini editing)

    Just tried rebuilding my UTEngine.ini file. Had no effect.

    The world and texture detail settings are already set to 1.

    I've also tried other maps and they play normally. It's only Deck that has this problem.

    Okay yeah I am sure it's a video card issue then, or perhaps something else. Not sound, however.

    One thing to try is back up or delete your UTEngine.ini file and let the game rebuild it. You'll have to reinput your CD key but maybe that can help eliminate the problem by going back to the basics.

    Another thing, you could try setting the world and texture detail settings down to 1/1 and see if that helps.

    Using the -nosound option didn't help. The game still crashed.

    My system specs:
    CPU: AMD Sempron 2400
    RAM: 512MB
    Graphics Card: ATI Radeon 9600SE 128MB
    Sound Card: Creative Sound Blaster Live! 5.1
    OS: Windows XP Pro x86 (with all updates applied)

    I did see a possible fix in somebody's sig for this problem but I don't know whose sig it was.

    I've already installed patch 1.1.
    None that I know of specifically, though my general advice is:

    Edit the UTEngine.ini which can be found in My Documents\MyGames\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Config.

    [Engine.ISVHacks]
    bInitializeShadersOnDemand=True
    PumpWindowMessagesWhenRenderThreadStalled=True

    ...and then...

    [SystemSettings]
    OnlyStreamInTextures=True
    OneFrameThreadLag=True

    Also you might try disabling sound by using the -nosound option and see if the problem occurs then. If that fixes the problem, then it could be an OpenAL issue. Disable that in the Audio settings section in-game.

    Edit: What I mean is, if you no longer get any freezes in Deck with the sound disabled, then it's an audio problem. If it's an audio problem our first guess is always, disable OpenAL and then launch the game with sounds again. See if that helps.

    Also, here is an update from kitch.

    Install it.

    Copy OpenAL32.dll and wrap_oal.dll from your system32 folder to your UT3 Binaries folder, making sure you replace the old ones.

    Enable hardware openAL ingame and see if you still have issues....

    Instructions on how to disable your hardware firewall on your router, for troubleshooting purposes:

    If you double-click on your network connection icon in the taskbar, and click on the Support tab, you'll see the Default Gateway has a certain IP Address number. You can most likely log into that IP address by typing it in your web browser. That's the control panel for your hardware firewall. Log in (you may have to set a password if you've never logged into it before) and then look around to disable the firewall.

    Again this is just for testing network connection issues, but if you have a really cheap router (like me) you pretty much just have the option to enable or disable it. But see if the problem persists afterwards.

    Ah it's a sticky so it's already at the top. Thanks for the consideration, though.

    Just an FYI, to those of you who are interested. I plan on rewriting my opening post here, to be more clear, and inclusive of the fixes that have gone on. So bear with me it might be a day or more before I get to it. But any constructive criticism would be appreciated in the meantime, to anyone who thinks of any more changes to it.

    Thank you in advance!

    In this thread:

    There was the following problem:

But thats all that happens! I just get a sound. Its actually kinda funny. No map loads and I stare at the menu. So I go to see if Singleplayer will work and it does.

    Regarding the issue where the audio tracks are not playing back during the campaign videos:

    In the options of this codec there is a way to exclude some exe from using ffdshow. I added ut3.exe in this exclusion list and the sound came back.
