    Package xxx is not downloadable

    With the release of the beta of patch2, I have finally been able to set up a dedicated server running under VMWare (previously it complained about the lack of shader model 2.0 support). I started one with the mutator I'm currently working on to check that it would be downloaded from the server correctly, but it was not. When I try to join, it says "Package 'Sentinel_Resources' is not downloadable" and will go no further. The package Sentinel_Resources.upk contains all the non-code stuff (textures, sounds, meshes, menus etc.).

    I know that the server works because I can join if I run the client with -useunpulished so it can find the packages that exist in the Unpublished directory. It even managed to download the mutator's main .u file if I tried deleting it on the client before joining, it's only the .upk which is failing.

    What could cause a package to not be downloadable? Is there something I need to set when running the server, or is the package itself somehow broken?

    EDIT: I forgot to say that although the server is patched to 1.2, the client is still 1.1.

    Yo Evil is BT here! Im sure you remember from the fly mutator.

    Is your server using -nohomedir in commandline?

    If so then then maybe you put the .u and .upk in the main directory C or D:\ cookedPC then put the .upk again in the cookedpc textures or just try to put the .upk in textures and or characters and or environments and in the main directory with the default .u and .upks. Then see if it will push. Thats how I run mutators with dedicated and my retail and client comes from mydocs.

    Could be a patch 1.2 to 1.1 sever to client issue or might be in the server.log more specific!

      Hello again!

      I wasn't using -nohomedir, but I tried it, and tried putting the packages in various locations, but it doesn't make any difference. I also patched the client to 1.2 beta1, but that didn't help either.

        Well Not too sure all I see in the server.log that seems an issue is this part:

        Im just guessing a problem in the build of the mutator or maybe an issue with the patch. Maybe move the mutator in the commandline to the front some. I cant think of anything else other than the path to the package or files is possibly not correct.

          Perhaps those log entries are related, but I see those when any custom content is present, not just mine.

            Hmm well im using a few stock mute and 1 custom mute in a windows free dedicated and upload to client for the custom works fine.

            I have also tested several custom mutators that are more complex to see how the up to client worked and those seemed to work fine and I saw nothing similar to the "Failed to find Package GuidCache_Localization to FullyLoad" that is in your log.

            Heres the boot from the server.log using some standard mutes and the custom vehicle replacer mute.

            So Im not sure im thinking its just an improper path or file location in the .ini maybe or possibly where you have the files placed in the server folders. And with those errors in my log related to the vehicle replacer, that mute seems to upload to clients and work fine but that is a simple mute based off the stock weapon replacer. Might also have something to do with where your server files are installed and where it boots from..

            BTW what is this related to DLC in your server log??

              I think that might be important. As far as I can tell, DLC stands for "Downloadable Content". The line "Log: Looking for DLC..." is not followed by anything in your log, but in mine there are the errors...

              EDIT: I can make those log entries go away by putting all packages straight into \Published instead of in subdirectories, and deleting the subdirectories themselves, but the "not downloadable" error persists.

                  Is it possible that you have specified AllowDownload=False for the package? See the commandlet SetPackageFlags or this thread for details

                    For this insight you have my thanks. I had to move the .u package to the UT3 install directory before the commandlet would stop complaining that it couldn't load it, and I had to set all three flags (ServerSideOnly=false, AllowDownload=true and ClientOptional=false), but it downloads from the server now. Exactly how those flags came to be set incorrectly is unknown to me, but I will know how to fix it should it happen again.
