    Cannot install Dedicated server - crash

    {SOLVED}
    Apply the 1.1 patch to the server, install the SwiftShader demo .dll files, use a command line generator to run the server.

    I have been trying to install UT3 dedicated server on multiple machines but everytime I get a error. Here are the specs of the Desktop I am currently trying to install it on.
    Windows XP Pro SP2
    Pentium 4 2.79 ghz
    1 GB ram
    integrated Intel 82865g Graphics with 96MB

    When it is going through the install it throws two errors at me and quits. Here is the first error.
    AppName: ut3.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: kernel32.dll
    ModVer: 5.1.2600.3119 Offset: 00012a5b

    after I click close I get this error pop up.
    AppName: ut3.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: ut3.exe
    ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00d51287

    I am not sure what to do. I am downloading the dedicated server again to see if something got corrupted but I don't know what to do beyond this.

    anyone have any suggestions or need more information?

    Does the install finish even with the errors?

      it says it finished the installation but there are no shortcuts in the start menu. There is a folder in the Program files but when I go to ut3.exe under the binaries it promptly crashes with the same two errors.

        Well you can not just double click the UT3.exe,
        You need to run it with a cmd line or with a batch file...
        read on the forums how to do that if you dont know...

        Try then to run the server with a log file, by adding the switch " -log=server.log "
        So we can see a report of the crash.

        I think...but im not sure, that this is also a PixelShader.2.0 install error,
        a temporary solution is here:
        http://utforums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=600571

        takes 1 min,
        may be worth a try.

          Dont know if the free dedicated comes with the patch 1.1 now but I dont think so! Thats not pixel shader error either because it would say Critical: ect.

          I would install the free dedicated then the patch 1.1 then try but theres several posts on this issue and it sounds like you are very new to running a server so?

          Heres some links first the main sticky on how to run a dedicated server then a link to this specific problem:

          http://utforums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=586810

          http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q....dll&FORM=MSNH

          Probably something to do with that integrated graphic adapter though!

            The Critical error you would only see on the log file,
            he does not have one.

            the UT3.exe crash GUI for Shader 2.0 error would just show you something like:
            AppName: ut3.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: kernel32.dll
            ModVer: 5.1.2600.3119 Offset: 00012a5b
            with 2 pop ups as he said.

            ill bet its a shader 2.0 install error

              Well I dont know maybe so but if hes not patched first then its pointless to try and fix!

              If he does not even know how to boot up a server from dedicated Binaries command prompt then we have no log to see problem issues.

              Probably will need to make adjustments in the UTEngine.ini in this area before he tries to boot up:

              [Engine.ISVHacks]
              bInitializeShadersOnDemand=False "maybe change this to True"
              DisableATITextureFilterOptimizationChecks=True
              UseMinimalNVIDIADriverShaderOptimization=True
              PumpWindowMessagesWhenRenderThreadStalled=False "maybe change this to True"

              Anyway we just have nothing to go on here and I doubt we will get anything either so were just grasping at straws as usual!

                I am downloading the 1.1 patch right now and then if that doesn't work I will try the shader 2.0 fix.

                Thanks for all your help so far.

                  I was able to apply the 1.1 patch, copy over the SwiftShader Demo .dll's and create a quick command line option to get the server working. Thanks guys!
