    I have a Toshiba notebook,1,73 GHz intel core 2 duo,2 gb of ram memory,vista home premium,intergrated graphic card intel 945M 256 mb.
    I installed the demo,when I run it windows checker opens and the game won't start.
    What's the problem?I downloaded the latest driver for the graphics card and still the same.

      Issue with radeon 9500 Pro: General protection fault

      When starting the UT3Demo, the Splashscreen suddenly disappears and this Windows error message shows up: (manually translated from German)

      "Unreal Tournament 3 Demo: UT3Demo.exe - Instruction error"
      The Instruction in "0x08850540" directs to memory in "0x0001c00c". The event "read" could not be executed on the memory.
      Click "OK" to exit the program.

      I know that my graphics card is below the official minimum system spec. But as far as I know, the Radeon 9500 has the same feature-set as the 9600 (i.e. SM 2.0), as the latter is just a so called "refresh-chip". And the Radeon 9500 Pro is also listed in the UTDemoCompat.ini file in [AppCompatBucket1].

        Not sure if this has been posted, too many replies.

        In Windows 2003 for people having problems with the game not starting or showing the UT3 logo and nothing else, this work around should help.

        1) Open Control Panel
        2) Open System
        3) Click Advanced Tab
        4) Under Performance click 'Settings'
        5) Click 'Data Execution Prevention'

        If you have 'Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select', you need to add UT3 Demo to the list or Select 'Turn on DEP for all programs and services only'.

        This worked for me and may work for other systems as well, but I seem to have a jerky screen when setting screen mode above 800x600.

          I just popped my new 8800 GT, properly installed the latest nvidia drivers, then tried to run UT3. Got a black screen. Cried. Came here.

          heres specs if needed:
          evga 8800 GT SC
          Intel Pentium D 3.0
          2 gigs ram DDR2

            Okay, so i finnialy got it installed. Then when i FINNIALY click the desktop icon, the screen stays black for a while, then a blue screen pops up and says error in harddrive contact hard drive vendor or something along those lines. Any way to fix this? I really can't wait til monday 0.0

              hey, ill be glad if you guys could help out on my problem.. first off i get a dreadfully low fps on the ut3 demo 4-13 fps. I just cant figure out whats wrong .... i just installed the latest 163.75 drivers and nada still the same ... My specs are: 2 8800GTX's in sli, Asus striker extreme ,QX6850 cpu , 2 WD raptors @ 10,000 rpm in raid 0 and four 750 GB seagate barracudas with a 24'' monitor 1920*1200 i bet my comp could take ut3 without breakin a sweat..... so whats freakin up with this.....ill be **** glad for any help thxx..

                Hi!, i´ve a big problem with the demo and dont know exactly if it´s solvented in this thread, there are 79 pages, too hard to find...

                PC :
                AMD Sempron 3000+ @ 1.8~2.2 Ghz
                1.5 GB RAM DDR400
                Sapphire Ati HD2600PRO
                Hard Drive 320 GB SATA2

                The game runs well (i get over 16~60 fps), but it´s more unstable when i put lower graphics (100sp/1dt/1dw, no P.P) than when i put on it the highest graphics... its more slow, but more stable... no crappy slowdowns, but the speed it´s crappy...

                And the other thing it´s that my System config Settings (UTEngine.ini, etc etc...) are not saved anytime (neither in the Default´s directory or the My Games directory) and then i couldnt try the highest texture mode of the demo (some settings will be effective due to restart the game) if i restart the game, the settings get default ALWAYS... i´ve tried to modify the ini settings by hand to get some performance, but ALWAYS go to default... i cant modify even the Default´s ini...

                But for some reason, my keypad-mouse config it´s saved... when i quit the game, the values of the personal ini files are correct, but i go to play and always get the default set´s everytime... it´s disgusting!

                What can i do?

                p.d: a last question... will be the performance gets (even) better than in this demo on the full game?

                  when I crash I got weird stuttering sound,hence the -nosound..... just in case...
                  In fact my main care is when the game crashes,it reboots my system,I got a 'serious error' message and it corrupts my USB modem drivers,which means I have to reinstall my modem every game crash

                    Good old 00012a5b... still happening in the retail release. It even happens in Gears of War... I'm getting tired of throwing money away on games using the Unreal3 engine as it looks like they're all going to only work for me in windowed mode. I can play other games not based on the Unreal3 engine without this issue at all.

                    Changing Fullscreen=True to Fullscreen=False in UTEngine.ini is the only thing that is allowing me to play at all as far as ini edits go... GoW windowed mode works too.

                    When I get the error in either game (game crashes after splash videos fullscreen true or false doesn't matter) I also need to reset my video card driver by either changing a random setting, using ATI Tray Tool's "Reset Display Driver" function, or enabling/disabling my second monitor if the 'reset driver' fails. I'm convinced it's some sort of driver issue but who to blame? It happens with ATI catalyst versions 7.8, 7.9, 7.10 and 7.11. My specs are in my sig and I don't see the point of updating my dxdiag or launch log. Thank god my X1950XT can run the game at 1600x1200 windowed mode...

                                I cannot run game in sli mode due to hitches and mouse lagg. But I run one gpu under 800x600, with 1 graphics settings if I want to play the game. I have discussed it all here with the community this past week, but no official action, or reassurance was provided.

                                This is retail, not the demo. I have posted this topic at nvidia forums, evga forums, and here.

                                I also have this benchmark of the UseMinimalNVIDIADriverShaderOptimization=true/false doing nothing. I have not tried every single driver setting in unison with this.

                                I have been using the benchmark test to do the 30second flyby on vctf-suspense, I have in my nvidia control panel disabled or turned to "off" any anisotropic filtering, and antialiasing features due to I run windows xp, and dx10 is not supported on this operating system, and these are my results.
