    I am trying to get the game running, but it simply won't start. This is what happens:

    1) I double-click the icon
    2) Splash screen shows up. There is CPU usage and HDD activity. Process shows up in Task Manager.
    3) Several seconds later, splash screen disappears. There is no CPU usage and no HDD activity. Process disappears from Task Manager. There is no error message.

    Computer Specs:

    - Windows XP Home SP2 (32-bit)
    - Q6600 @ stock
    - 2GB RAM
    - 7600GT @ stock
    - Audigy SE
    - NVIDIA ForceWare 163.71

    Already tried:

    - reinstalling/restarting
    - redownloading installer from different locations
    - reinstalling AEGIA software
    - UseMinimalNVIDIADriverShaderOptimization=True
    - bInitializeShadersOnDemand=True
    - uninstalling AVG Anti-virus

    Can anyone shed some light on this problem?

      I don't have the UTengine.ini file at all...all i have in config is files like "DefaultEngine.ini DefaultUIl.ini DefaultWeapons.ini...Etc. Etc. Etc.

        Hey guys, did you realize that GOW that use the exact same engine and is made by the exact same team is gold? Makes me chill as i doubt every issue that we found here can have been fixed in GOW....

          Following the above suggestions worked for my system:

          WinXP SP2
          UT3Demo installed on a 500GB SATA drive separate from the OS and separate from the page file drive.
          Athlon XP 2500+ OC to 2.2GHz
          Abit NF7-S v2.0
          1GB PC3200 (2x 512MB Dual Channel)
          128MB 6600GT
          Nvidia 45.23 graphics drivers (yes, very old, but they perform better than the latest drivers on my system. Also tried an 82.XX build but got the best results from the 45.23 build.)

          Playing UT3Demo at 800x600, 50% render and lowest settings otherwise. This gives me in-game FPS in the high 30s when in heavy combat, and high 40s/low 50s in light combat. Non-combat stays at or very near the 62FPS cap. I haven't bothered uncapping it. Higher settings don't crash the game, but I see massive hits to the FPS making it unplayable.

          The problem I was experiencing wasn't the kernel error. It was a D3D related crash that would happen at random moments in-game. Typically, I would pick up an item or switch weapons and the game would hang and the audio would loop. After a few moments I would then get the Windows dialog about UT3Demo.exe crashing, and I would crash to the desktop at 800x600x32bpp resolution.

          Interestingly, the latest full NVidia drivers caused more severe crashes, similar to what others have described: Full system lockups forcing hard reboots, or crashing to the desktop at 640x480x16 colors.

          So far I've played every map and game type, for at least an hour of each without issue. Heatray plays well, Shangri-La plays a little better. Suspense is on par with Heatray, occasionally dropping a little lower.

          Other things I've noticed:

          Starting the game takes a very long time. No joke, it takes close to 3 minutes for it to actually begin once I click the shortcut.
          During map loading, there is a brief period where it looks like the game has locked up, but after about 15 seconds it loads the map.
          Immediately prior to the above "lockup" the FPS drops to almost 0.
          I know this isn't the appropriate thread for this one, but wow does the UI stink.

            Hi,
            Don't know if it has been reported yet (i don't have time to read 51 pages) but there is a framedrop issue with the ATI x1950 pro 512Mb AGP video card.
            As far as i know, all people with this card got the same problem.

                i have some strange problems with UT 3. It seems to hang every 1 or 2 seconds, even if I walk without seeing any bot my FPS goes down to 15-20 and then returns to 35-40. This is for the 800 x 600 resolution although the 35-40 are also a bad FPS for my system. I try to play it on this system:

                Duo Core T7200 with 2x 2,00 GHz
                Nvidia GO7600 with 163.75 drivers
                2 GB RAM
                Windows Vista Business

                I tried to lower all details in the UTEngine.ini, so i could reach a FPS of 65-70 but the FPS has gone to 40-45 every 1 or 2 seconds. It seems to me that there is a compatibility issue with one of my components. Other games run well!

                With atuner i could optimize the graphic card to get 5 FPS more...it's ok, but doesn't fix my problem

                  I play for about 10-15 minutes and I get an error. I have to reboot to get UT 3 to reload.

                    radeon 9600xt video card (driver version 7.10)

                    I can run the smaller map like Sangria, but in the map like the vCTF one my screen is lagging like hell and eventually turns black and the only thing left to do is the reboot the computer.
                    I gues I'm oke with the system specs, but is it somethig "i'm" doing wrong?

                      The problem is the 9600XT. I have a 9600XT and my video card crashes all the time. I have used 7.8-7.10 drivers and all I ever get from mods is a redirection to a post with possible fixes which I have already tried several times. There are several other people here which the same problem as you with the 9600 series video card.

                        First of all great demo, excellent work as usual Epic.

                        However, the demo seems to randomly crash on vista for me. Everything is running fine, good fps etc. and then everything freezes before it goes back to the desktop saying that UT3BetaDemo.exe is not responding. This could just be a problem with vista however, but I thought I would let you guys know.

                        7950GTX 512mb x 2 in SLI mode

                          Exreme video stutter & rendering pauses

                          I'm getting time-warp type video stutter (where you end up a far distance from where you last were before the stutter) and rendering delays that just make it unplayable. For a while before installing the Vista SP1 beta update...I was also getting spontaneous reboots. Even with FPS uncapped (getting 60-100 FPS online) the stutter continues along with the rendering slowdowns.Here is the info that I could find to help in diagnosing the issue. Couldn't help but notice that many people with Radeon x1950's are having many issues as well...while lower cards are doing better. Also worth asking....Is the engine recognizing my x64 processor on Vista Utimate x64 as x86 ? I highlighted in yellow the section that made me wonder about that.

                                My video card is a 6800 Ultra ( im not sure but its the highest model in 6800 series) and I cant play higher than 1024x768 with 1 on models and textures.

                                Otherwise I get less than 24 FPS.

                                I have also 1 gig of Ram and a 2.7 Proc.
