I play the UT3 Beta Demo with 5-15 FPS at LOW Settings and 1280x800 and with 10-20 FPS at LOW Settings and 800x600....
this can't be, my laptop isn't that bad:

    CPU: Intel Centrino Duo(CoreDuo) T2300 with 1,66GHz
    RAM:1GB
GPU: ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 with 128MB
OS: Win XP SP2, Ubuntu 7.10(still waiting for the Linux Version -.-)

Some of my friends are playing it with highest settings and nVidia mobile gcards(8600GT, i know it's much more better but not THAT much...ok they have better cpus too...c2duo @ 2GHz)

My System is better than the minimum reqirements, so I should be able to play the game with lowest settings and more than 50fps...

...has someone else tested the game with a mobility radeon X1600?

btw. i can play CoD4 with low-med settings and moderate fps rate, timeshift with low-med settings, portal & hl2 with highest settings...

      O/S: XP Pro 32 bit
      CPU: Athy 64 X2 4800+
      MOBO: Asus SLI Deluxe
      RAM: 2GB King. HyperX
      VIDEO: 7800GTX 256mb (X2 in SLI)
      SOUND: Audigy 2 ZS Plat.

Running 163.76 beta drivers and re-named the .exe to Bioshock.exe to pick up on the SLI profile. Funny thing is there's a Unreal Tournament 2007 in the SLI profiles. Epic ya might wanna talk to nVidia about that.

At first the game played fine but I wasn't happy with the performance. 20-30FPS @1024X768 high settings, c'mon! Talk about yuck. Then I started tweaking and got to the point that I broke the demo. All it would do was play the level for a few seconds, then shut down the machine. Ok bad to worse...it's a mission now!

      My Fix:
Removed 163.71 drivers and tried the new 163.76 BETA drivers.
Removed the demo & did a fresh install.
Launched the game once to generate all the needed .ini files in My Games & quit.
Did the suggested .ini changes on the shaders and rebooted.
Re-launched the demo and made the preferred video settings.
      Done. Stable ever since.

Too bad, 163.76 doesn't exist on vista.
And with 163.75 i had the same crappy performance.
Almost every user w/problems has an AMD cpu, is it a coincidence?

I doubt it's the AMD cpu.

But I feel like more people that are running 64-Bit Windows are using AMDs.
So everyone who runs Windows x64 (Vista or Pro, or Server 2003) is more likely to have crashes (in fact, using the same system like do now I never had a crash under Windows x32 before- ever in the whole 7 months!).
And because most of them have AMDs (for they were the first to support 64Bit mainstream computing) it seems like most problems occur on AMDs.

I've been looking on other forums and a lot of people with AMD dual core cpus have problems of frame rate.
The OS doesn't seem to matter, i have vista x32, another guy has xp x32, and so on.
I noticed that while the game is running both my cores are at +/- 95% usage, kinda strange for a 2800mhz athlon x2.
            Maybe it's all a coincidence, i repeat...

I have got to hand it to you guys there at Epic Games, you have created quite the flexible demo. I love how it scans your hardware configurations first-off then presents you with what your computer can handle. Other game developers seriously need to practice this. My 9800 pro is actually playing a high quality game. Great Job

Anybody who has sent logs into Epic heard anything back yet? Sent mine Monday night and not a word back yet...

                Just curious here...

The game shut down after one game (Duell or something else) and there came a failure message, which is about the Kernel. It said that I have to update my processordriver. I did it and I updated all drivers. Now the game is a bit longer but after every match I had to restart my Computer that I can play this game.

                    Hello,

I have a problem with the Unreal 3 Beta Demo aswell.
I was very glad to see that the demo had been released and I've downloaded it.
This wednesday I've been playing Unreal 3 the whole afternoon, enjoying it very much.

Today, Friday, I boot my system, I start Call of Duty 4 Demo. Everything is okay, nothing wrong. Everything works, very smooth. I get a little bit bored and I decide to play some more Unreal 3. And here it all begins...

My computer freezes the moment I click on the UT3 icon. Nothing happens. I'm stunned. I reset and then I reboot by "Shut down". I start my PC again, hoping this is an error out of thousand.
I click the UT3 icon again, Unreal Tournament boots. I see the promotional video's, but after Dell's Dual Core promotion.. Screen comes black and stays black! I'm stunned again, again.. I'm forced to perform a reboot.

For the third time, I try to boot UT3: Demo. This time I get into the menu without problems. I click any map, and halfway loading.. My computer freezes again. After a while: *POOF* A BSOD out of nowhere telling me there's something wrong with my n4_disp.dll - now I know what that means, graphics card driver.

I'm happy it's only that. I manually remove my driver and reinstall it. But, it was too easy to be true. I get the same error over and over again. Reinstalling the demo doesn't help either.

How can this be? It's a fresh copy of Windows XP Professional and the only thing it has on it is Call of Duty 4: Demo & Unreal 3: Beta Demo. Is this because this is a beta version of Unreal Tournament 3? Then I ask myself, why could I play this game for serval houres before it failed to function?

                    System Specs:

                    E6750 Dual Core
                    2 Gig DDR2
                    GA-P35-DS3
                    Geforce 7800 GTX (+ 163.71_forceware_winxp_32bit_international_whql)
                    Windows XP Professional

                    Any idea's?

                      Hi there!

I'm experiencing a slightly different problem here; It seems the game is unable to switch from a widescreen res (I'm using 1360x768) to the regular 800x600 upon clicking on the UT3 icon. The screen simply goes black and I have to manually restart.
Now here's the thing; the game DOES play -and beautifully may I add - when I set the desktop's resolution to 800x600. (I haven't tried any of the higher 'regular' resolutions yet)

                      -GPU: nVidia GeForce 8800 GTS
-OS: Windows XP SP2 latest updates (32-bit)
                      -Processor: Intel Core duo 2.1
                      -Memory: 1 GB DDR2

btw, I've just downloaded the latest nVidia driver (XP/server 2003 version) for my GPU. For some reason it kept giving me BSoD after restarting (right after the Win XP loading screen). I had to revert to my older drivers. I'll try finding something slightly older than the latest and try again.

I get the same 'UT3demo.exe has stopped working' message. I can get one complete game in, but when it starts the next, after a couple of minutes I get the message.

when i try to start the game it shows the logo screen and then says UT3demo.exe has stopped working. I read about 15 pages of posts and tried the avg fix. When i tried the UTEngine.ini file edit there was no file named UTEngine.ini in the Config file...
I'm running vista premium on a laptop.

                          ANY IDEAS

                          Comment

So here I got a whole new approach there:
When looking into my temp folder I found several files named like this:
HHHH_appcompat.txt where each H seems to stand for a hexadecimal value, from 0 to F.

So I opened up one of them, and voilà:
                            Code:
                            <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16"?>

Well, I found even something resembling a memory dump (well, obviously not the whole one, or it would take a gig), but I cannot post it. Don't have a decent hex editor installed and notepad just shows blank for most of the file.

Game crashes to desktop with no error message when returning to full screen mode after alt-tab. Same thing when switching to windowed mode using alt-enter.
