        This beta demo runs slow on my machine. But UT2004 full runs great.

        MY SPECS:

        3.2 GHZ Pentium 4
        2GB DDR RAM
        512MB agp NVidia Video Card
        Windows XP sp2

          Got this one too sometimes (i have others sadly) and i have XP SP2 with Xfi fatality too. Maybe we should try to uncheck the openal box?

              Bummer. I did try e-mailing information to that e-mail address in the first post, so I'm hoping that will help. I probably won't try the demo again until Epic finds some sort of fix for the Radeon 9600 lock up issue. They need to fix it given that 9600 is the minimum requirement for ATI cards.

                Windows Vista 32Bit Edition
                Intel Core Duo 2 2.66
                Geforce 8800gts 640mb

                I have had a similar problem.

                The splash screen loads and then nothing. It just sits there until I close it (and it says not responding).

                From someone else's post on page 12 of this thread, I disabled the sound in the UTengine ini by changing bUseSound=True to bUseSound=False.

                The demo runs now, but the sound is only there for the intro ads. When you get into the game, the sound doesn't work.

                I don't know how to get it to work with sound.

                  My game crashes every so often. Or better, after about 15 minutes of playing it just quits with an error. The screen turns black and that message box comes up saying "UT3Demo.exe caused an error and has been terminated" or the like. I still keep hearing some humming sound from my boxes, but it's like an endless loop of some sound effect. At least it's really quiet.

                  So this message box asks me whether to send information about this to Microsoft (which I choose to) and starts lying. Because it tells me it sends the information over but I chopped the line. It says it sends the info (and takes forever for this, in the meanwhile the screen in the background turns from black into my regular background), and it tells me it succeeded in sending the information and getting possible solutions but I pulled the plug of my modem and it can't send at all but it keeps telling me it does and then it says it finished and I may acknowledge by clicking on OK I've been bull****ted once again by M$.

                  Anyway, this doesn't solve my problem. I read through most of this thread by now and couldn't find similar problems.

                  Does anyone know?

                    amd athlon(tm) 64 x 2 dual core processor 4600+ 2,41 ghz tried the fix. and 100% updated.

                    1 gb ram

                    NX8600GT MSI supports direct x 10 fully updated software

                    using windows xp sp 2

                    installed the patch also doesn't work tried reinstall of the game doesn't work

                    so this happens when you start the game the cursor turns into loading then after the mouse appears normal no error and no game appears but ut3 demo is in the process bar but the game won't run.

                    what could by this issue please some expert look into this my pc is good enough to run UT 3

                    I also tried the changing true to false and I downloaded UT 3 from gamershell.

                    I emailed the dxdiag.

                    so epic what could by my problem? I hope its fixable

                    oh and the launch file doesn't contain any data...

                      Lots of people have the same kind of problem (you should have given the whole error message though to know wich app and module crashed) i guess epic is working on it.

                        Sounds to me like maybe your memory is filling up, 1gb of anything isn't going to run much these days, i would recommend bumping it up to 2 or even 3gb. After that try reinstalling the demo and try it again.

                          Blackscreen ingame !

                          Got kind of a problem here...
                          I can launch the game without any problems, and I can also join any server I want.
                          The problem is that I get a blackscreen ingame totally random. Its like this:
                          Blackscreen type 1:
                          I walk around in the map try to kill enemys but suddently - the screen freezes and after like 5-10 seconds it goes black. When it goes black my sound stops too but only few seconds. Then it comes back an after maybe 10 - 20 seconds i can go on playing cause the game is back.
                          This happens totally random, it happens on the internet as much as in the instant action.

                          Type 2:
                          And then there is also a 2nd type of blackscreen, my game crashes after many of type 1 blackscreens telling me when i close ut3 with the taskmanager telling me:

                          My graficcard crashes too and i have to reboot my computer.
                          When I try to start ut then it says:
                          "will paste in a reply else too long"

                          After some of type 1 blackscreens my graficcard just shutsdown and my monitor turns off, and I have to reboot to fix it.

                                It's where the processor, the graphics card, the memory and so on are plugged. You can see it in all it's glory if you open your PC Meanwwhile, look behind the computer and you will see connectors for sound, keyboard, mouse, your printer, etc...
