    Uz2 Algorithm documentation

    Hi

    I am looking into how the uz2 unreal comression algorithm works and am looking for any documentation on this. I know its releates to the popular gzip format and I wont to make an implementation of it in java. It is basically for a webpage where a user can upload a file from a web browser and it will be compressed into a .uz2 on the server.

    Hey Cy (skull here),
    Look up info on the Huffman codec and such, I'm not sure if UT2k4 uses that same algorithm but I know the first generation of the Unreal Engine did.

    If you download the UT1 public source and look in the Core\Inc\ folder you will find it in the FCodec.h file

    Probably the easiest way of doing it tho, is simply to use the UCC compress commandline instead of taking the long route..

      it uses zlib, I wrote a tool once that can (de)compress uz2 files
      it's available here (with source):
