    Need help creating a custom shader

    Hi I need to create a new shader but I don't know the shader system very well yet. I've looked at UDN but I still don't really know how to do it.

    Here's how it should work:



    There are a number of textures with a separate alpha channel. Over that you have a color map that multiplies all the textures underneath. Top is the final texture.

      I can't seem to be able to do it. I get a "No stages left for Bitmap Material1."

      I only have a combiner within a combiner, each one has two textures and a mask.

      Can someone tell me what's wrong ?

        try putting the combiner into a finalblend before putting it into another combiner

        edit: it works. make sure you give it a fallback material though because xbox emulation can't render 3 textures combined(so i imagine geforce 3 and below may have trouble) and geforce 2 can't even render a 2 texture combiner (so make sure if your fallback material is 2 combined textures that you give that a single texture fallback material)
