    Stairs cause editor to crash

Is it just me, or does anyone else notice a very, very high crash rate with the Unreal 2k4 editor when working with stairs? I just can't get anything done with them because of the consistant problems I having with them. Any advice, patches, or workarounds would be appricated. :downcast:

    Try using meshes instead.

Yeah, also always save before doing stairs, they tend to crash the editor. I also noted that Tarquin's brushes seem to be more stable when it comes to this.

        Stairs suck. Use SMeshes.

I also get a lot of crashes, when I Add or substract, and then Undo it.

UEd's a buggy program. But usually it does the trick.

Just make it a habbit saving every 20 secs and you'll be fine.

            Autosave would be great!

Doesn't it do that? In my map dir I see a lot of maps named Auto1, Auto2 etc.

Yes, auto1, auto2 etc are exactly that : autosaves.

Be curious! Open one and have a look !

autosaves are the only thing keeping me from going insane when I've justed worked for an hour or two without saving.

To find out which one is most recent, go to "open", right click and select "view" (I think) and then "last modified". Then scroll all the way back and the last file is the newest one. Ued saves quite often, so you can't lose all that much work.

Autosave > All. Saved me countless hours of work.

speaking of autosave is there a way to make it save more often?
