Help with building map(lighting)

hardware off

i looked for the hardware thing to turn it off. i went to view->advance options and searched the whole thing and couldnt find hardwareTL.
if you can give me exactly how to find it that would be helpfull.

Using an ATI card? Either way, turn off HardwareTL in the advanced editor options.

It's a known problem, and sadly, I don't know the solution. Usually, fiddling around with lights and settings seems to do the trick though.

i was building my first map and i got to the part where you put in a light. when i clicked on build lighting the room lit up but a wall and the ceiling and the floor went completely black. i tried to fix it but couldnt figure out how. i then played the map, and the floor and wall where there but they were still all black. i put several lights right next to the floor and wall and it didnt help.

if you know how to fix this problem or have any suggestions please help me out.
