    ****~ character/matinee issue inside

    M'kay all,
    I'm working on a matinee for Gusher and his Lawdogs Mod.
    I can place the xpawns in the movie.
    BUT~ once the movie starts to play - everyone is Gorge.

    Now what is really weird:
    The Lawdogs players show up in a instant action game while I'm goofin off.
    BUT THEY WON'T SHOW IN THE MATINEE?!?!
    *sorry fer yellin - i'm frustrated*

    Anyone know what gives?

    Oh- and why can't I give the Lawdogs thier proper weapons?
    Once I change thier required equipment, nothing shows up at all.
    The Gorges just run around bumping into each other.

    I'm sure both issues are somehow related.
    Any help?

    a few ?s before i venture a tentative answer:

    are you using build 2225?

    are the xPawns you're placing custom subclasses for Lawdogs, or actual xPawns?

    if xPawns, are you just changing their Display properties to try to make them Lawdogs?

    do the Lawdogs players that show up in IA have .upl files?

      1: Yes

      2: xPawns - no custom classes

      3: Yes - this has worked for me on 2 other matinees.

      4: I think they do.. but cannot verify right now. My work pc is at my office this week.

      /me is cranky about another wasted nights work:sour:

      This is frustrating - they show up in all other gametypes - but NOT in my matinee.
      *but, its kinda funny to zoom in & see a lawdog.. lol*

        OK, this is my take on it.

        build 2225 has a function called Setup() that references a defaultproperty of xPawn called PlacedCharacterName. the default PlacedCharacterName is "Gorge." the function somehow turns all placed characters (i.e., your xPawns) into Gorge unless the xPawn has a PlacedCharacterName on the list of names in the Setup() function. previous builds did not have the same function, so your other Matinees would have worked OK if done prior to build 2225.

        the above situation seems to be overridden by .upl file info, which is prob'ly why the Lawdogs characters work OK in Instant Action. but in my experience, for a character placed in a map in UEd, i had to subclass xPawn, change the subclass' defaultproperty PlacedCharacterName, and modify the Setup() function by adding my character's PlacedCharacterName to the list.

        i know, it's a royal pain. but it's the only way i've found.

        PlacedCharacterName is also editable in the AI section of your placed xPawn's properties window (F4), but i don't know if this is useful for this purpose.

          For me it sounds like your xpawns just don't have AI-Scripts, do they ?
          Are correctly related to the AI Script ?
