    Live Commentator mutator

    On behalf of my friend I post this.

    As the topic says. When someone is killed a certain way it will play a random commentator string, and for positions and weapons too.
    Can anyone do it?
    Would be cool to hear yourself being commentated

      It would be amusing to have that dump the commentary and messages to IRC channels. It would make for a great mutator for LANs I think. The mutator should be capable of being set so the commentary is only viewable by spectators, so that players who don't want to see the commentary don' t have to.

        Opps, forgot to mention, audio, not text. Obviously it wouldn't be able to say the names (unless it used TTS, maybe filter out the special characters, so it only says the text of the name).

              I would prefer a audio/text method so everyone will get no syncing issues.

                Good point. Maybe have a scrolling subtitle bar on the top of the hud

                    it would be very hard to make good though. firstly the sheer number that would need recording, and also, when the taunts paly it woul dbe like:

                    "Gorge was mowed down by Saphire's Minigun."

                    Not would every name, and taunt have to be recorded, every name + 's. that's what, 36 names already, plus all thaunts + 20(ish) that's 50 voice packages, in 1 download. it would be a lot of trouble, but i could do it (record it at least) but i have no idea how u coul dget the commentataor to say it at the correct time.
                    also when u use an ion painter, the amount of deaths, it would be like 6 commemtators saying slightly different things all at teh same time. :bulb:

                      Well, if it's possible, to code it so it would detect mass kills and give a appropriate recording

                        Actually, I think it could be done without mentioning names. For example it could be setup to recognize team affiliation and model gender so the comments could be less player specific. Granted it would be a difficult thing to make clear who was who, but if you add location recognition and the coding so it recognizes the proper variables it might be possible to do.
