Some mod ideas (for others 2 use)!!!

Hi, i have some good ideas for UT2004. How about a veichle mod (havent seen much of those). here is some good ideas (at least i hope so). i feel UT2004 lacks 2 types of veichle: 1: Hovercraft
2: Walkers (kind of like in the matrix revolutions seige scene)

This idea was inspired by both The matrix and warhammer, *(LINK)*

        1) There are hovercraft, the Manta, and pretty much that extends ONSHoverBike is a hovercraft.

        2) Walkers are extremely complex, I know of one that is being worked on, but it seems to be taking quite a bit of time.

        3) You do realize that you would have better luck having your requests filled if you gave even the slightest hint that you are willing to put more effort into it than just thinking up the basic idea and handing it off. I don't mean to bust your balls, but there are a zillion "idea guys", and not nearly enough modders. As a modder, I am always hoping that some of the "idea guys" gain the ambition to do what they want to see done, and possibly become less a part of the "requesting" community, and become more a part of the "modding" community. I would guess that just about ecery modder out there already has too many ideas of their own to ever finish them all, let alone work on someone else's, especially when that idea isn't straight and simple.

A while ago I posted an idea for a mod, well more of a TC then a mod. I laid out my idea for all to see. but that was it, it was just an idea, burried deep in my brain, strugging to free its self. I got flamed. I have learn't from my error. If you have a mod/TC you need a few pages of infomation on the mod, thinks like. How it going to work, the story, all that sh*t. A beta of the mod/TC, does'nt have to be great you need to show that your in it for the longhall not just a fantasies.

I have been planning my Mod/TC for the last few months, I am working on a doc, meshes, textures. As soon as UT2007 hits the shops I will have somthing for people to look at. I'm hopping a few top guys will jump on bore as soon as they see the promise. The key to doing a great Mod/TC it not to go with scale. I think those that release Mod/TC as chapters have a great chance of reaching the community...

Well, it's a bummer you got flamed, and I'm glad to hear you're WORKING on it. The worst thing about this forum, is the number of people that really have no ambition, except the ambition to get someone to do their work for them. I recently posted in a thread where someone had requested a model, then came back to the same thread A YEAR LATER to so how everyone else was doing on the project. The excuse was the modeling was too complicated and the programs like maya were confusing. F'ing Waaah!

One thing that I think helps, is to complete and release some smaller works to let people know you mean business, and you're not just going to be sitting back, thinking up more work for them, and shouting orders. The Mod Team's leader should be the busiest person there. Also, if you can get help from RL friends, that makes for a good start to a team. I'm trying to get my Kid to learn gimp or coding, maybe maya so he can help me with these things, and also make the stuff he's been suggesting to me.

Another thing to think about is the plain and simple human nature of it: Whatever your idea is, it has to be quite a bit better of an idea that what the modder has in order to lure them to your team. If your mod is not much better than whatever they already are dealing with, or not much better than their own "next project", then it will probably not attract them.

You are right though, docs, concept drawings, screenshots of works in progress, all help let people envision your idea, and hopefull show it in a positive light. Of course, one has to also be reasonable, , , nobody is going to take someone seriously if they come off with things like "I GUARANTEE this will be an even bigger mod than Counter-Strike".

Anyways, that's my rant. I'm guessing that when '07 comes out, there will be a bunch of us trying to get out ideas ported over to it. I know I have a gametype idea I've been trying to wrap my head around, and I'll probably pursue it a bit more once that day comes. I hope to port my completed and beta works (see my sig) to '07.

              Good points
There are to many FPS gametype's. Its kill or be killed, hell a game can be so much more. Anyway look forward to seeing work from you in 07...

I'm not sure what engine Morrowind uses, but it can not be much easier than unreal modding. Unreal also has TONS of tutotials on video (VTMs), as well as it's own wiki (not to mention these forum). Add to that the fact that most, if not all the tools needed can be found for free, , ,

You should give it a try, I bet you'll shortly realize how easy it can be.

Had a look at the Morrowind Editor sum time ago. I found it to be a hard one to get to grips with, but this was at a time when I had no editing experience. Always wanted to try my hand at an RPG out:.

PS we all do these sh***y post from time to time, no need to say sorry mate.

As for my Mod/TC idea, ant going to give to much away. I have a few textures and meshes done. Trying to do the main character but thats taking time. Its going to be a Adventure/pluzzle TC, set in some ancient theme. Its still very much in the air.

                      Story:
Its mainly about a boy, a sword of power, and the will to undo the undoable. There will be no weapons, only whats around him, ie stones/sticks. The sword he will have will be to heavy for him to hold, at best he'll only be able to drag it behind him.

Anyway cant do anything to 07's out...
