Congratulations on being a finalist in the MSU AS mapping contest.
Good luck down the homestretch. At least you listened to suggestions and look at where it got you. Otherwise if you don't listen to comments/suggestions and incorporate at least some of them in your map you end up with an HM (which is still good). Peace.
Osaka does look and play good, I'll admit. However, it seems to lack that professional quality feel that Acatana has. In my opinion, if Acatana has any competition in this contest it's from either Thrustv2, Abyss-lite or Utopia.

Well I don't agree with that ... Osaka is exceptional and it's not all about visuals ... sometimes it's a concept that is introduced and meticulous work on bot AI that really makes a map rise above the rest and HighRise which introduced Dynamic Weather and showed that even bots can be taught to drive in a complex envrionment where there is little room for error is also a greatr example.
But all of these are amazing and it is very difficult to say who will win or what the judges will really be looking for ... case in point ... HighRise doesn't even have an intro and yet it beat out maps that did ... why? Excellent gameplay and one of the most challenging AS missions around and a new way of creating maps with hazardous environments ...
But this map is also so freakin' awesome ... of course you all know I think so ... man how can anyone choose ... glad I'm just a user so I can just enjoy them all.
Acatana is truly impressive piece of work; for that reason comparison with HighRise is really absurd. On the other hand, Abyss and Thrust are also very impressive, even though Abyss isn’t completed.
