    DM-SnowboundPark



    This map started out as an edit of DM-Blaue_Donau-Eis(RM) by Romu. Nearly every aspect of the map has been worked on. I started by extending the terrain outwards to create background scenery; added houses, trees, vehicles and other decoration to create a realistic look. I then reworked the terrain layer to fit a new lake mesh, added more "urban" meshes from various maps, and made a few new meshes, such as a merry-go-round. I edited various textures to make them look more wintry. I also made custom pickups - peppermint HP, Adren and Shield, all worth 10 points each. The DD is a metallic snowflake.

    Pressing 'E' on a trashcan or grill will activate a music switch. A couple of them activate default tracks, others tracks from other custom maps. The others you can find here:

    I'm digging this Jefe! I have not played the original for comparison, but this is very nice, and the theme is perfectly consistent (which is great!). I like that the hills around the perimeter are just rolling enough to provide cover and allow for some medium range combat.

      So is this essentially an arena map with a large open frozen lake in the middle and a little secluded ring around it to seek cover and attack the center?

        Here are some comparison shots with the original map. The original had most of the spawn points and weapons on the lake itself, and a fairly narrow path of vials and adren around it. The general layout is still the same, I expanded the playable area outwards a bit so there was more to do in the outer areas and just generally fleshed it out and improved visuals.

          I've never played the version by Romu, but finally got around to try this. It looks great, it has a good atmosphere. I like the lake texture, and the snow works well with it.

            I made another version of the map for my server shortly after I released the normal version, but forgot to post about it here. The regular version should be used for "normal" gameplay, while the DC version is tweaked for invasion.

            The DC version adds new bathroom areas along with superweapons, mine layer and lightning gun pick ups. Fixed collision on the playground mesh so that vehicles don't get stuck on it. Projectors (i.e. headlights) no longer create weird artifacts on the "tower" trees or dead grass.
