    4. Description:

    - UT2004 remake of DmElsinore.

    4.1. Gameplay Tips

    Mystery Hall - Shoot the floor in the center of the ring formed by pebbles of rock--a hatch will open for a limited time, revealing a small room leading to the bottom floor, very close to Serenity Garden.

    Mystery Hall - There is a wall which players can walk through.

    Water Canal - You can dive into the water and swim between two sections of the top floor.

    5. Comments

    The BSP has been done from scratch in UEd 3, following the original level about 98 %.
    Most materials are stock UT2004 content.

    Great job on this map btw. I liked just about everything, although that bright blue effect for that skylight was very distracting for me. I was disappointed at first that the music was not from UT, but you chose a great track.

          Didn't know. I played single player when I had Unreal back in the day. Didn't have UT till I picked up UT Anthology. Still I love the music from both Unreal and UT.

                Late thanks.

                In retrospect, it felt like I used most of the time figuring out what music to use with this map, and cursed GreatEmerald's nick for "demanding" it.

                The only thing that still annoys me is the sunlight bug which makes some of the corners "shine."

                Some people told me the map was too dark now, but they've probably not played the original, or don't remember it well. x)


                @jefe, if you're still alive, what blue..--ah, the "effect" in the Carpet Hall? I thought it added a nice, fake flare effect to the dominant red.

                The other blue light was in the Offertorium (someone had to name these places). It was mostly inspired by psytrance.

                    Good remake from Cliffy B's Unreal map.

                    I like this version of Elsinore, it has some intellectual textures, lava, good weapon/ammo placements and there must be a few hideouts somewhere. Love the whiteboard in the Super Shield Belt area you will see the player name with the most frags (it will appear soon). The lights and torches are natural and still perfect for the most (I don't care about dark layouts and the sunlight effect). Great gameplay and the bots are really good at.

                      excellent remake!

                      First, let's briefly touch upon the maps for Unreal and UT:

                      DmElsinore (Unreal) > this one is by CliffyB and I liked the crags and purple skybox outside and gloomy inside with lava pools, water, dimly lit hallways and many paths. This has typical Unreal atmosphere, but bots are really difficult in this game and can't hear any music in the botmatch.

                      DM-Elsinore][ (UT) > this one is by Chris Airey and looks the same or at least very similar to the original Unreal version, but has added Flyby music and some different weapons (i.e. - chainsaw). If you never played the Unreal version, then this UT version is the closest you can get to that experience.

                      Now let's talk about the map in this thread (DM-Elsinore]i[ (UT2004) by rejecht). What makes this one cool is it is not an exact port and it created a completely different and eerie environment with a similar layout. I like the changes with the wild lava, wire-mesh grates, blue dusk and foggy skybox outside, darker and more purple inside with rays of moonlight streaming in at certain places. I noticed an added link gun and lightning gun as well as, oh look, an albatross! I liked the ambient sounds of birds, crows, water, lifts and heartbeat as well as the leading player's name on that one wall of the curved corridor. I didn't think the map was too dark, but just slightly darker than the original and wasn't bothered by the shining corners in places. This one has the same great gameplay and the bots are decent. I like the gameplay tips and I noticed you have to use a jumppad to get the big keg o' health in this map. I'll continue the Elsinore saga in the review in the thread for the other UT2004 map very soon.
