    UT3 Announcer Pack for UT2004

    Just like the title says, I've at last managed to convert the announcers from UT3 to UT2004! Special thanks to ZeaLitY from BUF for sending me the source sounds!

    There are two announcers: UT3 Female Announcer that should only be used as a status announcer and a UT3 Male Announcer that should be used as a reward announcer.

    Download:

    Download the pack in .UT4MOD format (Alternative mirror)

    Download the pack in .RAR format (Alternative mirror)

      I saw that too. Using the zipped version. I tried them in bot matches, seem to work pretty well. For simplicity's sake though, why don't you combine them into one file and have it listed as "UT3 Announcers" since neither one is a complete set, but are complete together?

        Hmm? They both should have the same data set. Unless the UMOD wizard did something wrong. Yet the ZIP seems to really have the right files (somehow Readme is in there twice, that might be a problem).
        W3RM, are you sure you placed right announcers in right places? That is, Male for Reward and Female for Status? Otherwise they won't work.
        Oh, and don't forget, UT4MODs have a brilliant thing called "uninstall" Just launch Setup.exe and you will be able to uninstall the mod, and then use the compressed file as a replacement.

        Anyway, I'm now uploading a RAR archive that *DOESN'T* have duplicate README files (no idea how the extract program manages to extract something like that anyway). And I'll probably redo the UT4MOD so it doesn't have a duplicate README as well.

          I've been able to hear both the male and female announcers, but it's inconsistent. For example, I heard a male voice say "One minute remains." Also, no "Pancake!"

          @W3rm, try the other entry for male annoucer.

            I hear everything. And there are no other files you need other than a .u, .ucl and two .uax files. No idea why it doesn't work for you, W3RM.

              So W3RM, everything works correctly now?
              Also, uploading a better .UT4MOD file. Probably it had problems with README and also "license" being unset instead of set to None.

                Check if you have some duplicate UCLs that show the announcers. But actually, my Announcer menu isn't working at all (shows only the two default announcers, have to INI-edit announcers), so I'm not much of help there.

                  Anyway, can someone tell if the new UT4MOD works or not?

                    He means that there is unused lines in the voicepacks ucls leading to the voice being listed twice:
                    Code:
                    Announcer=(ClassName=UT3Announcers.AnnouncerFemaleUT3,PackageName=AnnouncerFemaleUT3,FallbackPackage=AnnouncerFemale2K4,EnglishOnly=1,FriendlyName=UT3Announcers.AnnouncerFemaleUT3.AnnouncerName,FallbackName="UT3 Female")

                    Announcer=(ClassName=UT3Announcers.FemaleUT3Announcer,PackageName=AnnouncerFemaleUT3,FallbackPackage=AnnouncerFemale2K4,EnglishOnly=1,FriendlyName=UT3Announcers.FemaleUT3Announcer.AnnouncerName,FallbackName="UT3 Female")
                    Announcer=(ClassName=UT3Announcers.MaleUT3Announcer,PackageName=AnnouncerMaleUT3,FallbackPackage=AnnouncerMale2K4,EnglishOnly=1,FriendlyName=UT3Announcers.MaleUT3Announcer.AnnouncerName,FallbackName="UT3 Male")
                    It should look like this:
                    Code:
                    Announcer=(ClassName=UT3Announcers.AnnouncerFemaleUT3,PackageName=AnnouncerFemaleUT3,FallbackPackage=AnnouncerFemale2K4,EnglishOnly=1,FriendlyName=UT3Announcers.AnnouncerFemaleUT3.AnnouncerName,FallbackName="UT3 Female")

                      You really should combine them into one pack so people don't have to remember which one works with what, or have the description in the ucl say "reward only" or "status only." Otherwise people will be confused.

                        Thanks for pointing out Thanatos! It was a corrupt UCL all along. I'll upload the working versions now.
                        And yes, that's what it should look like, no idea why it doesn't work for you W3RM....
                        Jefe, if I combined them, then what would be the fallback announcer pack? And what if the user doesn't like half of the announces, not all? Plus, having it set up like that doesn't actually do any harm, if you use the wrong slots you will simply hear the default announcer.

                          I don't know how the fallback announcer works. To answer you second question: If you combined them people will still be able to select a separate announcer for the other category, just like any complete announcer pack. You would just need to give it a good in-game description like UT3MaleRewards/UT3FemaleStatus.
                          Plus, having it set up like that doesn't actually do any harm, if you use the wrong slots you will simply hear the default announcer.
                          If you don't update anything, it will be confusing. People who either didn't read the readme or installed the voice packs a long time ago will be confused, annoyed, or think they don't work at all. People don't download announcers packs to hear.... the default announcers.

                          I'm not getting on your case here, just wanted to explain my thoughts on it. It really sounds like I'm making the case for a single pack, but I'm not. I think it would be best if you just updated the descriptions, since combining them would be more work. Since you're updating them anyway to remove the duplicates, you might as well say which one is for rewards and which one is for status.

                            But the male announcer does not play the sounds anymore.
                            So I have put it back to default.
                            And it works again.
                            OK that is weird I tested the fix in UT2004 your right it doesn't play in the match but for some reason it works when you select the package in the settings tab.

                            Bingo fixed it:
                            Code:
                            Announcer=(ClassName=UT3Announcers.FemaleUT3Announcer,PackageName=AnnouncerFemaleUT3,FallbackPackage=AnnouncerFemale2K4,EnglishOnly=1,FriendlyName=UT3Announcers.AnnouncerFemaleUT3.AnnouncerName,FallbackName="UT3 Female")
                            Announcer=(ClassName=UT3Announcers.MaleUT3Announcer,PackageName=AnnouncerUT3Male,FallbackPackage=AnnouncerMale2K4,EnglishOnly=1,FriendlyName=UT3Announcers.AnnouncerMaleUT3.AnnouncerName,FallbackName="UT3 Male")
                            It turned out that the original pairs were both wrong the second pair had the correct ClassName which explains why you could hear them ingame but an incorrect FriendlyName which is used on the menus and vice-versa for the first set which you could hear on the menu but not ingame.

                              Wait a minute, Thanatos, are you sure the PackageName for Male is "AnnouncerUT3Male"? As it's the name of the code file (the compiler doesn't compile code which ends in a digit happily), and the sound file is AnnouncerMaleUT3. Doesn't this work?
                              Code:
                              Announcer=(ClassName=UT3Announcers.FemaleUT3Announcer,PackageName=AnnouncerFemaleUT3,FallbackPackage=AnnouncerFemale2K4,EnglishOnly=1,FriendlyName=UT3Announcers.FemaleUT3Announcer.AnnouncerName,FallbackName="UT3 Female")
                              Announcer=(ClassName=UT3Announcers.MaleUT3Announcer,PackageName=AnnouncerMaleUT3,FallbackPackage=AnnouncerMale2K4,EnglishOnly=1,FriendlyName=UT3Announcers.MaleUT3Announcer.AnnouncerName,FallbackName="UT3 Male")
